The idea to rent out rooms at a big student accommodation building in Wrexham to vacationers over the summer has been given the go-ahead.

The Snowdon Hall project on Vicarage Hill in the downtown area used to have a rule that only students could live there.

Nevertheless, Student Roost requested in April of this year for authorization to rent out the 156 en-suite bedrooms in the building to different guests from the beginning of June to the end of August annually.

Advisors representing the company suggested that having most students return home over the summer would help make the business more sustainable.

An update on Wrexham Council's official website indicates that the application has now been approved.

The suggestions align with a significant rise in foreign visitors to the area following the acquisition of Wrexham AFC by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Recently, Nigel Williams, who is in charge of the economy for the local government, mentioned that the tourist attraction to Wrexham is a result of the success of the popular documentary series Welcome to Wrexham.

In a letter that came with the application, Student Roost representatives explained that there are many advantages to the changes they are proposing. One benefit is that it would bring more business to the area and the city because more tourists would have places to stay.

Additionally, there are chances to show support for universities, events throughout the city, and many different businesses and groups by securing block bookings for employees, guests, and attendees.

The person applying wants to promote the accommodation as best suited for families, couples, and groups booking for organizations. They will make efforts to discourage bookings from large groups coming only for the weekend, like stag and hen parties.

Student Roost's main focus is to keep all residents safe and comfortable. That is why the booking process will make sure that any students staying at the property during the summer will not be affected by non-student visitors.

The company announced that they had obtained approval for similar modifications to another student housing project in Birmingham.

It was emphasized that Snowdon Hall's primary purpose would continue to be providing accommodation for students throughout the academic year.

The scheme was approved not long after the proposal to convert Wrexham's previous registry office into an aparthotel was greenlit.
