Nightingale House Hospice is organizing a fundraising event called "Lantern Parade: A Night of Light and Hope" in Wrexham's city center on Saturday, November 16th. This occasion will be part of the festivities for the Christmas Lights switch-on and will kick off at Queens Square, concluding at the Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre.

Families participating will walk through the city center carrying beautifully illuminated and adorned lanterns, all while raising funds to benefit Nightingale House Hospice. The day's events kick off at noon in Queen's Square and feature artisan market stalls, a variety of food and drinks, as well as live performances.

Lowri Sadler, the Events Fundraiser at Nightingale House, expressed that this unique evening provides an opportunity for the community to unite while holding lanterns that represent the kindness and support the hospice offers to many. Participants are encouraged to gather as much sponsorship as they can to assist the hospice. The funds raised will be crucial in helping Nightingale House maintain its high level of care for those who rely on their services.

"We are excited to partner with Wrexham Council and Eagles Meadow to play an important role in the city center's lighting ceremony."

“We aim for the parade to create lasting memories for children for many years ahead.”

Cllr Nigel Williams, Wrexham Council’s Lead Member for Business, Economy & Tourism, expressed his happiness about partnering once more with Nightingale House Hospice for this year's Christmas Light Switch-on and Lantern Parade.

"It’s a fantastic event that many families, both from here and those who are visiting, eagerly anticipate. It’s wonderful to back such a meaningful cause while also brightening our city for the holiday season."

Families are encouraged to join in lantern-making workshops at Ty Pawb on November 9th and 16th, running from 12:30 to 3:30 PM each day, in anticipation of the event. The Lantern Parade is welcoming and suitable for everyone, regardless of age. It costs £6 for each child to register, which covers the cost of a lantern and a battery-operated light. Adults accompanying children can attend for free.
