Birmingham Fans Experience Déjà Vu As Club Seeks High-profile Hire

Simeon Gholam, the EFL editor for Sky Sports, said:

Supporters of Birmingham City may experience a strong sense of familiarity upon hearing this news.

In 2016, the Blues were close to making it to the playoffs and had recently been acquired by Trillion Trophy Asia.

The proprietors made a choice to let go of Gary Rowett, who was only three points away from being in the sixth position. They opted instead for a renowned appointment in the form of Gianfranco Zola.

This decision turned out to be a complete failure. Zola managed to win only two matches out of the 24 he was in charge of, resulting in the club's drop from being seventh to twenty-first in the league table.

Harry Redknapp took charge of the team's last three games of the season and was able to lead them to victory in two of them. This helped the club secure their place in the Championship, but only just.

Following two seasons where Rowett led the team to 10th position, he was dismissed. Unfortunately, the club has not achieved a higher ranking than 17th in the last seven seasons.

Birmingham supporters are anticipating that they won't suffer a repeat of the same misfortune and their future manager will lead them towards progress instead of falling into a state of deterioration.
