Many individuals emerged from a Google office building in Taipei, Taiwan, on January 29th, 2021.

Google used to have fun and comfortable offices. Even now they want their employees to come back to work in person. The Wall Street Journal says that Google is pushing for this. They want to include office attendance in their employee reviews. Working from home won't be seen as good as working from the office.

Google's Chief People Officer Fiona Cicconi sent a staff-wide email. The email talks about Google employees' feedback. People who work in the office three days a week feel more connected to their colleagues. Fiona said that if teammates work in the same location, it magnifies the effect. People don't agree on 'magical hallway conversations,' but working together in the same room has a positive impact.

Google wants employees to come into the office at least three days a week. If employees miss the office too much, Google will remind them to come in. This policy is called "hybrid work."

Google has reduced office space and made employees share desks. A "mega campus" was going to be built in San Jose, California but the project is "on hold." Demolition started in 2021 but was put on hold in April. This happened after the work-from-home trend became popular.
