During the beginning of the pandemic, the co-founder of Y Combinator, Paul Graham, stated that leaders were tricked by remote work.

In a Twitter post, Graham pointed out that numerous leaders are going back to their previous work methods before the pandemic.

Several prominent companies such as Amazon, Meta, and Apple have called for their employees to return to the workplace in recent times.

A well-known investor has expressed opposition towards the trend of remote work, arguing that high-level management were initially deceived by its benefits but many businesses will soon require personnel to return to in-person work spaces.

Paul Graham, one of the co-founders of Y Combinator, a startup accelerator and seed capital company, expressed his opinion on Twitter. According to him, a few startup founders he spoke to have reconsidered their stance on telecommuting and are now aiming to bring their employees back to the workplace. While it is unlikely that the work atmosphere will revert entirely to its pre-Covid state, it seems that it will return mostly back to the way things used to be.

He said, "How come these intelligent individuals fell for it? I believe it's because remote work can be effective at the beginning if you have a strong in-person work structure in place. Additionally, it appeared to solve the challenge of recruiting, which is always a major obstacle."

Remote-first companies existed before the Covid-19 pandemic and will likely persist in the future. This approach suits several businesses. Moreover, specific jobs such as customer service can be typically managed remotely. However, according to him, remote-first will not be the standard choice.

Graham has made remarks regarding the shift in flexible working policies among numerous prominent corporations like Amazon, Apple, and Goldman Sachs. Recently, Meta disclosed that their staff is obligated to report to the office for three days each week starting from September. They have also put remote job opportunities on hold for now.

Graham has recently joined a group of prominent individuals who are opposed to remote work. Among those on this list is Elon Musk, who is famously fighting against this practice, labeling it as "morally incorrect."

In 2022, Musk instructed the staff members at his establishments, Twitter and Tesla, to either come back to the workplace or resign.

According to Scott Galloway, a professor at NYU, young individuals should avoid being at home if they aspire to achieve success in their careers.

According to him, being at home for too long is not a good idea. He advises young people to spend minimal time at home and get out more often. In fact, he believes that the less time you spend at home, the more successful you will be in your career and love life. Home should only be a place for you to get enough rest, nothing more.
