‘I can’t remember a worse game’ – Jurgen Klopp labels Liverpool’s 3-0 loss at Brighton as his ‘worst ever’...
Jurgen Klopp has described Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton on Saturday as his worst ever as his side slipped to ninth in the table.
The Reds were comfortably beaten at the AMEX Stadium thanks to a brace from Solly March and another from Danny Welbeck.

The result handed Liverpool their sixth league defeat of the season and back-to-back away losses after their 3-1 reverse at Brentford on January 2.
A downbeat Klopp admitted in a post-match interview that Saturday’s result was his worst of a managerial career spanning 22 years.
Klopp explained: “It’s my job to make the right line up, to set up the right tactics and I had a really nice moment doing that. I’m not sure if it’s because the game was only a few minutes ago but I can’t remember a worse game. I honestly can’t. I mean all, not only Liverpool – I can’t remember.
“And that’s my responsibility so that makes it a really low point.”
Liverpool’s league season has been in stark contrast to that of last season when they went toe-to-toe with Manchester City, only to miss out on the title in the final game.
Liverpool fan and talkSPORT’s Tony Cascarino believes Klopp’s struggles this season are a consequence of last season’s tussle for honours that continued deep into the season.

“When I did a prediction at the start of the season I had Liverpool coming second this year and after game one, Fulham away, I felt very differently quickly,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.
“I didn’t think about it long enough. I thought the consequence of the end of last season and challenging on all fronts was a problem that could filter into this season.
He continued: “Their pre-season results were affected. There were results very quickly that made me more concerned. We finished 34 points ahead of Man United last year in the Premier League and now they’re in front of us. There’s change-arounds and there’s catch ups but 34 points – we are not the same side.”

Cascarino also pointed to Liverpool’s home form as an ongoing issue and predicts the Reds to miss out on Champions League qualification at the end of the season.
“I think the alarm bells have rang numerous times this season. Brentford was not a surprise to me. You’d favour Liverpool but you think about and the way Brentford play, they’ve got high energy in midfield they could cause Liverpool problems.
“Brighton did it in a 3-3 draw at Anfield, Wolves did it in a cup game. I’ve seen Leeds win at Anfield. I’ve seen Leicester nearly win at Anfield.
“We’ve had some terrible results. We’ve lost seven games all season in all competitions which is a problem and I’m not optimistic at how this season’s going to pan out for Liverpool. I think we’ll be fifth or sixth, I don’t think top four is in our grasp.”
