Jurgen Klopp hits back at Liverpool rebuild calls amid growing transfer questions

Jurgen Klopp has rejected suggestions he needs an overhaul of his Liverpool squad in the wake of the 3-0 defeat to Brighton.

Klopp's men were soundly beaten on the south coast as Danny Welbeck added to two second-half goals from Solly March to condemn the visitors to their sixth Premier League defeat this term.

As questions persist over the makeup of the squad at his disposal, particularly the options in midfield, Klopp was asked if he feels it's time for an extensive rebuild, but the Liverpool boss says he disagrees with those theories.

Instead, the Reds boss insisted it was his and the current players' job to make sure those claims fall silent going forward.

"It’s our fault you can ask that sort of question and I understand but it’s not like that," Klopp said. "The changes had nothing to do with that. I can’t change offensive players because I don’t have, really, it’s not like I can say 'oh, up front everything is all right but in midfield everything is not good, that’s why we changed it’. We are slightly limited but it’s our fault you have that impression.

"Who has had their best season yet for us? Yes, it is difficult [to name anyone], eh? But that’s the normal things that are coming up when you open the door for these kinds of questions and thoughts.

"I understand that but we have to make sure you can’t ask these questions anymore, that’s our job."

Liverpool return to action when they travel to Wolves in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening before hosting Chelsea at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
