A presenter from the show Good Morning Britain has decided to halt all of her TV and radio commitments for the time being. The decision was made so that she can remain alongside her loved one continuously, as their family has recently been hit hard by some unfortunate news.

Derek Draper, the husband of Kate Garraway, is currently fighting for his life following a heart attack.

The television presenter from Good Morning Britain has decided to suspend all of her TV and radio commitments so that she can monitor her husband around the clock. This is due to reports that he is seriously ill and in a critical condition while being treated in the hospital.

In 2020, Mr Draper came down with Covid and had to be hospitalized for an entire year. He was put into a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator during his stay. Upon his return home to north London, Garraway has been caring for him ever since.

According to an insider who spoke to The Sun, the family was notified of his declining condition and his sudden illness on Monday came as a surprise.

The news came unexpectedly and surprised everyone since he had been making good progress and was feeling very positive, eagerly anticipating the Christmas celebration with his loved ones.

The sudden obstacle has caused immense distress for his relatives and everyone who is concerned about him.

Kate is constantly at his side, never leaving his side even for a second, encouraging him to emerge victorious in this latest battle for survival.

Derek has engaged in numerous battles and consistently emerged victorious despite facing difficult circumstances.

In October, Garraway, who is 56 years old, shared that Mr. Draper was not doing well due to an infection.

One month before now, Garraway expressed to The Sunday Times that she was grateful for her partner's survival, but at the same time, she was also experiencing feelings of sadness and mourning.

In her interview with the newspaper, she shared her perspective on what it's like to be a caregiver. She expressed that it's not only challenging emotionally but also extremely tiring physically. She acknowledged that many other individuals in the same role can relate to the toll it takes on one's well-being.

When the Prince of Wales bestowed the MBE to the ITV presenter in June, Mr. Draper was by her side. Garroway took to social media to share how Mr. Draper was determined to attend the event.

At the beginning of this year, she revealed on Giovanna Fletcher’s Journey to Magic podcast that looking after her spouse, who used to work as a political advisor, was quite difficult since he's still facing a lot of emotional scars.

His mobility is still limited, and verbal communication remains difficult for him. He is still relying on feeding tubes to receive nutrients, indicating that he has a significant amount of recovery ahead of him.

However, if you take into account the previous Christmas celebrations, particularly the one before that, in which he was still undergoing treatment at the hospital, you can observe some progress. Although, understandably like anyone else, we wish for the progress to occur at a more accelerated pace.
