While it may not have been as exciting as the previous north London derby held at the Emirates Stadium, the victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday demonstrated the significance of having players who can alter the course of the game.

The fans selected Kim Little as the player of the game due to her impressive diagonal pass that broke through the Tottenham defense and led to Arsenal's winning goal. Alessia Russo managed to score the goal.

According to Arsenal coach Jonas Eidevall, having strong individual abilities is crucial, as demonstrated in the goal. However, it's also essential to have good chemistry and comprehension between players. Without these factors, individual talent alone won't be useful in our playing style.

Kim takes care of the ball and carefully analyzes the situation to find the perfect chance to make that angled pass with great accuracy — without which, the goal cannot be achieved. Even if Beth Mead doesn't wait for that pass and aim for that spot, while also displaying excellent control of the ball, the goal won't come through.

The goal would not have been successful if Alessia hadn't remained in her position as a central No 9. If she had become restless and wandered off, the goal would not have come to fruition. It requires the perfect combination of elements to score.

In front of over 60,000 spectators, Arsenal emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

There were other players in Arsenal's team who could increase their pace and creativity with just a simple movement, not just Little.

Following their initial surge of corner kicks, the players taking the lead in challenging the opponent's backline were Victoria Pelova in midfield and Caitlin Foord on the left. Pelova exhibited her aptitude for receiving the ball while pivoting and twisting away from defenders in confined areas, generating chances in instances wherein it seemed unlikely. Meanwhile, Foord's nimble footwork enabled her to forge ahead through the flanks.

The sole problem was that subsequent to those moments, they encountered a barrier of white tops.

During the first half of the game, Arsenal had a good opportunity to score but unfortunately, Russo was unable to make it happen. The game was progressing as expected and Eidevall knew that when playing against a team with a strong defense, it's difficult to score in the first half. He reminded his players that the reward often comes in the second half and instructed them to be patient and focus on quality to make it happen.

Arsenal's ability to attack with ease and unpredictability keeps opposing teams on their toes, never knowing what move the Gunners will make next.

During the half-time break of the game, the team discussed the idea of utilizing diagonal passes towards Mead as an alternate approach to scoring. This strategy proved successful, as Arsenal players continued to seek out Mead on the right side of the field, where her skillful touch resulted in Russo's goal. It was expected that Mead, who is 28 years old, would be a key player during this period.

Arsenal did a great job of solving their problems during the game against Spurs. They had to figure out how to beat their opponents without some important players. Emily Fox, Cloe Lacasse, and Sabrina D'Angelo were playing for their national teams in the Gold Cup, Vivianne Miedema was out because of a knee surgery, and Leah Williamson wasn't in the starting lineup. Arsenal started by figuring out how to score against Spurs.

According to Eidevall, the current conditions were extremely challenging, possibly the toughest of the entire season. This was evident from the composition of Arsenal's bench which consisted of four players from the academy and two goalkeepers.

Williamson came back in the second half of the game as a substitute in the 73rd minute. However, she will require careful handling in the upcoming weeks. She was brought in as a substitute for Lotte Wubben-Moy, who gave yet another impressive display on the field this season. Williamson demonstrated that she is a player who possesses the ability to drastically alter the course of a match in just a matter of seconds.

Williamson was one of the first players to participate in the game by receiving a quick goal kick outside the Arsenal box near the corner flag. With calmness and precision, the England captain lured an opponent forward before accurately passing the ball into midfield where Little was able to control and set up an attacking play for Arsenal. Such remarkable skill can alter the course of a match and will be crucial for Eidevall as the season progresses, as he seeks players who can execute unexpected moves in all areas of the pitch.

Williamson had a significant impact during the final moments of the Spurs game. This, along with Zinsberger's remarkable defenses against Jessica Naz and Martha Thomas, may prove to be of equal importance as Russo's game-winning point.

Eidevall expressed that the team could have ended the game on a better note, but the effort put into getting the players in shape had affected their performance. He informed the players that although he wasn't satisfied with their play during the last 15 minutes, it wouldn't matter in the long run, and they should concentrate on making intelligent choices.

There are many teams out there who will experience periods during a match where they are not completely in control and it's essential to weather the storm. That's exactly what we did today, and it was crucial. We managed to keep a clean record and earn three points, which was our ultimate goal.

We won't fully grasp just how crucial these three factors are until May. Yet as of now, they enable Arsenal to stay within striking distance of the top spot in the WSL, which is what matters most at the moment.

After the break for international matches, the attention now shifts to finding a better performance in the Continental Cup semi-final game against Aston Villa, and then preparing for the chance to beat rival Chelsea for points in the next week. The priority is to improve the team's style of play.
