Kate Garraway, who was in tears, shared the last words her daughter said to Derek Draper before he passed away. She also mentioned that her 17-year-old daughter asked to bear the casket during the funeral.

During an appearance on the Good Morning Britain show of ITV, a 56-year-old celebrity spoke for the first time after laying her spouse to rest just three days ago. She talked about her great affection for all those who have stood by her and extended their support in this tough time.

She expressed her feeling as an incredible experience. She felt her emotions were intensified to an extraordinary level.

She confided in her colleagues Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid, revealing that she was informed about Draper's limited lifespan, which turned out to be a month before his eventual passing.

Draper, who formerly worked in politics and provided psychotherapy, passed away last month at 56 years old.

It was reported that he had been one of the patients in the UK who had COVID for the longest period of time. He contracted the virus in March 2020 and was hospitalized for 13 months.

On Monday, Garraway was speaking from her house through video chat and expressed her emotions. She also shared how her daughter Darcey exhibited immense courage in the hours leading up to Draper's passing.

On Friday, a group of famous people and politicians showed up to attend the funeral of the teenager's father. The young person was also among those who lifted and transported the coffin during the ceremony.

According to Garraway, both of the kids had some alone time with their dad. Garraway also mentioned that Darcey exhibited courage by saying "It's fine if you can't handle this."

When asked about her daughter's participation as a pallbearer during the ceremony, she expressed admiration saying "She was adamant about being a part of it, and I found it to be a touching gesture."

When asked about how she coped with taking care of her husband for four years, she admitted that she may not have done a great job. She revealed that she leaned on others for support, just like many of us do.

I feel like I owe a great deal of gratitude to many individuals, especially to Derek. His determination and resilience to persevere through challenges was truly remarkable. He never expressed any negativity towards attempting or accomplishing tasks.

"The children also deserve recognition for their exceptional behavior."

According to her, her son Billy, who is 14 years old, went back to school today. She also mentioned that she will be back on GMB on Thursday.

She expressed her anticipation for being reintegrated into society and reconnecting with everyone.

"Thank you for welcoming me again, but please bear with me, as I may not be as polished as before."

"I can't wait to get my hair blown dry," she chuckled.

Nevertheless, she expressed her focus on the upcoming days by stating that "a fresh chapter begins at this moment. I am uncertain of what to expect, but mourning cannot be limited to just a day, a month, or a year."
