The presenter of GMB, who had been away from the programme since 2014, talked about why she decided to come back. Afterwards, she encouraged her colleagues by saying "we need to bounce back and move forward".

Draper, who was once a lobbyist involved in political matters, passed away on January 3 at the age of 56. He had been admitted to the hospital almost four years ago because of an extreme case of Covid.

On Thursday, Garraway expressed her feeling of pleasure but also how unusual it felt to return to ITV studio. She had made a brief appearance on the show through a video link earlier in the week.

During her spouse's funeral on Friday, Ben Shephard, a colleague of hers for a considerable duration, commended her for handling the situation exceptionally well and making her husband Derek proud.

The person who was presenting confessed that she was feeling unsure or unsteady, but she made it clear that she wanted the focus to be on Derek and not on herself.

Garraway expressed gratitude towards the audience for their backing.

Throughout Draper’s illness, Garraway has been working hard to increase awareness about the experiences of both paid and unpaid caregivers. She has done this in a number of ways, including through her documentaries titled Finding Derek and Caring For Derek.

When asked about her choice to come back to the program, Garraway stated that one must keep moving forward in life, and her husband Draper would have wished for her to continue with her job.

She stated: "I am uncertain regarding its outcome. The feeling of sorrow cannot be restricted to a particular day or even a whole year."

"Many individuals inquire about why I'm resuming my work. The truth is, life must continue. We must find the strength to move forward, despite everything. I know that's what Derek would wish for me. I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone who supported me in this endeavor. Let's rise up again and face life's challenges."

When the show started, she informed the audience that she was emotional and crying while preparing to make an appearance on the show.

In June 2023, Kate Garraway, along with her spouse Derek Draper and parents Gordon and Marilyn Garraway, were captured in a photograph.

"This morning, the make-up girls made me cry simply by greeting me," she expressed.

"I also want to express my gratitude to those of you who are reading this from your homes. As I stated earlier in the week, your support has been nothing short of amazing."

She expressed: "It's wonderful to be showered with so much affection from everyone present here. Every person has been extremely kind-hearted, and I am cognizant of the fact that I am fortunate."

People who watch GMB are thrilled to have Garraway on their TV screens again. A fan of the show wrote on X/Twitter to express their happiness: "It's not the same without you on GMB."

"I'm thrilled to have witnessed @kategarraway's return to @GMB. I wish I could extend my arms through the screen and shower her with an affectionate embrace."

Someone else commented, "It's great to have @kategarraway return, we've been waiting for you! Just take things one day at a time, Kate, and don't forget that it's perfectly fine to show a smile."

In 2008, there was a photo taken of Kate Garraway and her spouse, Derek Draper.

On Friday (2 February), Draper's funeral was held at the Church of St Mary The Virgin in Primrose Hill, a north-west London location where the former political lobbyist-turned-psychologist married the TV star back in September 2005. It was the final resting place chosen for Draper.

In March 2020, Draper fell gravely ill at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak and remained hospitalized for 13 months before ultimately being released.

Garraway joined GMB on Monday the 5th of February by video call and disclosed to the audience Draper's last moments.

She recounted, "Each child had their own special time with Derek, as well as group time with all of us. Even Darcey reassured her dad, saying 'Don't stress, Dad. If you need to go, we'll be fine. Take the time you need.'".

According to Garraway, her kids were remarkably courageous on the day when Draper passed away.

In another part of the interview, Garraway mentioned the last words that her spouse heard from their 17-year-old child Darcey.

Garraway shared that Darcey had comforted her by saying that everything will be alright and she need not worry about taking care of the family. Darcey had also expressed that Garraway's values will continue to live on through her family.

She disclosed that her daughter was determined to bear her father's casket during the burial ceremony.

While we were discussing the funeral, Darcey entered the room and asked if she could be the one to carry the coffin. I was surprised by her request because carrying a coffin is not an easy task. It can be quite a heavy load. However, Darcey remained adamant that she wanted to do it and I found that quite admirable.

Every weekday, you can tune in to Good Morning Britain on ITV1 and ITVX at the early time of 6am.
