The exceptional racehorse Shishkin, who had triumphed in several Grade One events, passed away due to a leg injury just before he was supposed to participate in the Punchestown Festival. Nicky Henderson, his trainer, has verified this unfortunate news.

The memorable 10-year-old horse achieved a remarkable victory against Energumene in the prestigious Clarence House Chase at Ascot in the year 2022. Currently, the horse is being primed for transport to Ireland and is scheduled to participate in the Punchestown Gold Cup on Wednesday.

Henderson announced on Sunday evening that they had lost Shishkin due to a tragic incident in which the horse got trapped in its stable and suffered a fracture to its hind leg.

All the people associated with Seven Barrows, specifically his proprietors Joe and Marie Donnelly, along with Jaydon, Nico, and George are incredibly distressed that a magnificent horse, companion, and fighter has passed away.

He was a remarkable achiever and his resume proves it - however, the King George race isn't listed in it although we feel it should be.

His best moments at Cheltenham were during the Supreme Novice Hurdle and the Arkle races. However, it's likely that his most memorable experience was competing against Energumene in the Clarence House at Ascot.

Tonight is a sorrowful occasion. Shishkin was the shining gem of our team and he will always hold a special place in our hearts. We express our gratitude to him for the amazing moments we shared with him.
