Michael Beale: Manager leaves Sunderland after just nine weeks in charge

Michael Beale

Michael Beale has left Sunderland after managing the team for only nine weeks.

After taking over from Tony Mowbray, Beale only managed to secure four victories out of twelve games. This led to the Black Cats being positioned in tenth place in the Championship, with a distance of four points from the play-offs.

The previous manager of QPR and Rangers, whose name is not mentioned, had their last game leading the team against Birmingham, which is now managed by Mowbray. The game ended with a 2-1 loss for the former manager's team.

Sunderland's assistant manager, Mike Dodds, will be in control of the team until the season finishes because the club is evaluating a permanent hire during the summer.

During his brief tenure at Stadium of Light, Beale encountered difficulties in winning the approval of numerous Sunderland supporters.

The 43-year-old also faced disapproval for seeming to ignore Trai Hume when he was taken off the field during the game at St Andrew's last weekend.

The season of 2023/24 has been a forgettable one for Beale. He was relieved of his duties as the manager of Rangers in October, just after spending less than a year in the position.

Philippe Clement has taken over the team at Ibrox and has done an impressive job. Under his leadership, Rangers have won 22 out of 26 games and are now at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Before becoming head coach of the Rangers, Beale had an impressive stint as their manager for five months. This convinced the team to offer him the position as head coach.

Beale has experience working with the youth teams of Chelsea and Liverpool. He has also served as an assistant manager at Sao Paulo, Rangers, and Aston Villa while working under the leadership of Steven Gerrard.
