The specific kind of disease has not been disclosed - it's not related to the prostate gland, although it was identified when he received care for a swollen prostate.

According to the Palace, the King initiated "ordinary therapy" on Monday and intends to put off any public responsibilities during this period.

According to the announcement, the Monarch, who is 75 years old, maintains a positive outlook towards his treatment and eagerly anticipates a swift return to his official duties.

There is no additional information being provided regarding the level of cancer or the outlook for recovery.

Charles personally told his two sons about his illness, and it is reported that the Prince of Wales regularly checks in on his father.

Prince Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, currently residing in the United States, had a conversation with his father and has planned to make a trip to the UK to see him in the near future.

On Monday morning, the monarch came back to London from Sandringham in Norfolk. According to the palace, he has commenced receiving medical care as someone who visits a healthcare facility regularly.

While he may temporarily suspend his public appearances, the King shall persevere in his duties as the country's head of state, such as carrying out administrative tasks and holding private discussions.

He will keep meeting Prime Minister Rishi Sunak every week, but only if he receives an in-person invitation. However, if the medical experts suggest that he should avoid such contact, then he may have to reschedule or limit their face-to-face interactions.

When the leader of a country cannot fulfill their duties, there is a defined way to handle the situation in the constitution. This involves appointing "counsellors of state" to take the monarch's place.
