The Palace of Buckingham has announced on Monday that King Charles III has been identified with cancer.

Last month, the King was admitted to the hospital to receive treatment for a harmless enlargement of his prostate. However, medical practitioners identified another issue that needed attention.

Further medical examinations have indicated that a type of malignant disease has been detected," Buckingham Palace stated. The exact nature of the cancer was not disclosed.

In September 2022, King Charles assumed the throne at 73 years old following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. He had held the title of heir apparent for an unprecedented 70 years.

According to Buckingham Palace, the individual in question will temporarily reduce their public appearances while undergoing regular cancer treatment. The treatment commenced on the first day of the week, however, they will maintain their standard obligations regarding official documents and state affairs.

According to the palace, he still maintains a very positive attitude towards his treatment and eagerly anticipates coming back to his full duties in public as soon as he can.

The palace mentioned that the King decided to reveal his diagnosis in order to avoid rumors and to help raise awareness about cancer for people worldwide who are affected by it.

On X, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak conveyed his well wishes to His Majesty, hoping he makes a swift and complete recovery.

Sunak stated, "I am confident that he will recuperate soon and the entire nation will be hoping for his swift recovery."

The leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, also expressed his hope that the queen will recover quickly.

"I would like to offer my sincere well wishes to His Majesty and hope for a speedy recovery. The Labour party eagerly anticipates his return to good health," he expressed.

Prince William, who is next in line for the throne, has not been seen lately at public events because he is busy looking after his wife, the Princess Catherine, who has undergone a surgical procedure and is now in recovery.

According to a friend who spoke to the Press Association, Prince Harry, the other son of the King who moved to the US with his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and resigned from his royal responsibilities in 2020, is planning to visit his father in the upcoming days.

A source close to Prince Harry revealed that he had a conversation with his father regarding his diagnosis. The Duke of Sussex is planning to visit the UK soon to meet with the king.
