A recently released documentary about the shamed pop idol, Gary Glitter, caused a reaction of intense emotion in its audience as it explored how the prosecuted child abuser was able to sustain his abusive behaviour for such an extended period of time.

Glitter: The Popstar Paedophile is an exclusive show from ITV that delves into the life of Paul Gadd, popularly known as Glitter, and how he took advantage of his celebrity status to commit sexual offenses against minors over a prolonged period of time.

One of the most popular clips circulating online is a rediscovered segment from a TV show called The Big Breakfast. In this part, Paula Yates interviews Glitter and asks him about his life as a pop star. Glitter shared that he used to invite Playboy models to his house during the 1970s.

Yates asked, "Who do you invite over to your house for coaching? Are they significantly younger than you? Whenever I picture you, I imagine you surrounded by youthful and attractive girls."

According to The Guardian's critic, there was a brief moment when Glitter looked absolutely terrified. Then, there was a noticeable sense of relief when it seemed like she was referring to young women in their twenties.

Music reporter Garry Johnson has shared another instance where two individuals were appointed as security for a show by Glitter in the beginning years of the 90s. Whilst they were moving boxes, they chanced upon a set of Polaroid pictures of minors.

In the face of questioning, Johnson reported that Glitter broke down in tears and attempted to bribe them with cash. However, they declined the offer and departed from the situation, yet not without igniting his wig.

Many reviewers agreed that the documentary did not provide any astonishing discoveries, but simply acted as a prompt that, akin to Jimmy Savile, Glitter was concealing himself in full view.

Back in 1999, he was found guilty of having child abuse pictures on his laptop. This happened after he brought his laptop, which was already broken, to a PC World store. Then in 2015, he got slapped with a 16-year jail sentence for sexually assaulting three girls who were under 18 years old from 1975 to 1980.

People who watched the documentary on Tuesday night (23 April) were very unhappy and shared their feelings of disapproval.

People are finding the Gary Glitter documentary to be very difficult to watch. One person expressed how they used to view him as a hero when they were younger, but their opinion has clearly changed. Another person even mentioned that the documentary caused them to feel physically ill.

"I cannot believe how disgusting and repulsive the Gary Glitter documentary on itv is. It is so terrible that I cannot bear to even look at him," expressed another observer.

Numerous people appeared to be uncertain about the reasoning behind ITV's decision to produce a fresh documentary, with an individual leaving a comment stating: "ITV, thank you greatly for broadcasting yet another documentary about Gary Glitter being an immoral individual."

Someone just has to create a device that enables time travel and journey back to the early 1970s when this knowledge would be relevant.
