It's been reported that Lewis Hamilton is set to surprise his fans by switching to the Ferrari team in 2025. According to trusted sources, the renowned seven-time Formula One title holder has already signed a contract with Scuderia and plans to unveil the news to the public later this week on Thursday evening.

Previously, there were rumors that the 39-year-old might switch to Ferrari, but he consistently stated that he planned to remain at Mercedes. He even hinted that he would work as an ambassador for the team after his racing career ended. Nonetheless, recent reports in Italy claimed that the driver was deep in negotiations with Ferrari. Consequently, the head of the Mercedes team, Toto Wolff, and technical director, James Allison, summoned all staff members to a meeting scheduled for Thursday at 2pm.

It is well-known that Hamilton has talked with the head of Ferrari, John Elkann, who has expressed his wish to have Hamilton join the team. Ferrari has acknowledged that they have had discussions with Hamilton about his potential move to their team in 2019. There have been rumors before about Hamilton joining Ferrari, but they turned out to be false. Yet, the most recent reports suggest that the talks between Hamilton and Ferrari are serious and an announcement about the move could come as soon as Thursday afternoon.

There has been no response from the spokespersons of Mercedes, Ferrari or Hamilton regarding the aforementioned reports.

In August of last year, Hamilton signed a fresh agreement with Mercedes to prolong his stay with the team until 2024 and 2025. However, it seems that he may have had the opportunity to leave after the second season and team up with Charles Leclerc at Maranello.

Hamilton has been a part of Mercedes since 2013 and has won most of his championships there, but recently the team has been lagging behind the impressive Red Bull. As a result, Hamilton hasn't been able to compete for the top spot. He's spoken openly about his disappointment and annoyance towards their lackluster performance, but nevertheless has maintained his faith in the team's ability to bounce back. This year, they're introducing a brand-new design in hopes of closing in on Red Bull's lead.

Switching to Ferrari is no assurance of triumph either. Ferrari has also confronted difficulties since the introduction of the recent regulations. In the prior season, they were placed third in the constructors' championship, trailing behind Red Bull and Mercedes. Additionally, they haven't claimed a drivers' championship since Kimi Raikkonen's victory in 2007, nor have they succeeded in the constructors' championship since 2008.

During the Monaco Grand Prix last year, Hamilton denied rumors about a shift to Ferrari, but after he declared the extension of his contract with Mercedes, he admitted that he's been pondering his future in the sport. He stated that he's already considering his next agreement regarding the sport's long-term plans, and his potential duration in the game. Furthermore, he assured his fans that he aims to remain in the game for an extended period.
