Carvalho double ends Hull's winless run at Cardiff

Cardiff City

Fabio Carvalho has been on a roll lately, scoring six times in his last eight games for Hull.

Hull City achieved their first victory in seven matches by defeating Cardiff City, thanks to Fabio Carvalho's two goals. This win keeps their chances of qualifying for the Championship play-offs, although it remains a difficult task.

Carvalho, who is currently on loan to Liverpool, managed to score the first goal of the match with a perfectly executed volley. Later on, he collaborated with Ozan Tufan to score again just before the end of the first half. Carvalho's second goal showed off his impressive finishing skills.

Cardiff managed to score a goal when Karlan Grant skillfully put the ball in the net, using a low kick after the halftime break. Unfortunately, Hull's Jaden Philogene, who used to play for Cardiff, quickly outmaneuvered the defenders and scored another goal, putting Hull back in a comfortable two-goal lead.

Hull has succeeded in climbing up to ninth position in the Championship table. They are now only six points behind the sixth-placed Norwich City and have an additional game to play.

Liam Rosenior's team may not be seen as favorites for the play-offs, but their recent win has helped them stay in the running. They had gone six games without a victory before this, so it was an important result.

Securing a victory in southern Wales was crucial because Norwich had already triumphed over Ipswich Town on the same day, creating a sizable lead of nine points between them and Hull.

Regarding Cardiff, this loss put an end to any unrealistic hopes they may have had of making their way into the top six.

The Bluebirds do not have any chance of getting promoted or relegated, but their manager Erol Bulut has a lot to play for since his contract is ending this season. Even though he wants to continue working with the team, he has not begun discussing a new agreement yet.

At the beginning of the game, Cardiff played with a lot of enthusiasm and determination to make a mark. Jamilu Collins, who plays on the left side of the defense, took a shot that made Ryan Allsop, who used to be Cardiff's goalkeeper, save the ball.

Ethan Horvath quickly became involved in the game, blocking a shot from Abdulkadir Omur and then deflecting another shot from the Turkish midfielder onto the post.

During the 32nd minute, a corner was taken and Cardiff was unable to clear the ball. Carvalho seized the opportunity and struck the ball with his left foot while continuing to move forward. His shot was low and deflected before finding its way into the goal.

A young player on a temporary stint with Hull from Liverpool scored his second goal for the team 12 minutes after his first. The goal was very easy for him, almost to the point of embarrassment. He passed the ball with Tufan and then calmly walked into the opposing team's penalty area to finish the play.

The crowd expressed dissatisfaction as Cardiff left the field at halftime. However, Grant provided a reason to feel hopeful in the 57th minute when he maneuvered from the left side and sneaked a shot into the net with his right foot, beating Allsop at his closest post.

However, Hull managed to score again in just two minutes.

Again, Cardiff's defense was too accommodating as Philogene had an excess of time and room to run free of his competitors and score a goal past Horvath.

Omur almost scored his fourth goal with a superbly curved shot that hit the post. Meanwhile, Philogene wasted a great opportunity when he shot over the bar during the extra time, despite being in a prime position to score.

At that moment, a number of supporters of Cardiff had departed after witnessing their team deliver yet another unenergetic display at home.

The fans of Hull, on the other hand, were able to rejoice in a win that they had earned and deserved.

The head coach of Cardiff, Erol Bulut, expressed his thoughts and opinions on the team's current situation. He communicated his ideas and provided insights regarding the team's performance and strategies for upcoming matches.

We didn't perform well in the first half. It was not in line with our training. If you fail to apply proper pressure and the opposition has good passing skills, they can easily escape your pressure.

The initial score by the opposing team from the sideline, although expected, was not a major concern. However, our squad's lack of intensity and distance from the adversary during the second goal was not up to par.

The latter part of the game showed improvement. We were able to score a goal, but a miscommunication between Rallsy (Joe Ralls) and Nat [Phillips] occurred. I was conversing with Nat when Rallsy passed the ball. Though this situation happened, we cannot alter it.

Even if you end up losing, it's important to make an effort and struggle until the end, unlike the lack of effort seen in the first half.

Liam Rosenior, the manager of Hull, stated that...

The display was quite impressive with our team scoring some excellent goals and effectively dominating the game.

I was really happy with the way the players reacted when they scored a sudden goal. The way they came together and showed determination was impressive and brought me joy. Their overall performance and the level of skill they demonstrated was also satisfying.

Considering that the [Cardiff] squad managed to win in Coventry previously, we displayed a significant standard that we must maintain and exceed if we intend to reach our desired goals.

"We are in the running for the play-offs. The journey ahead will be filled with many unexpected events. I have witnessed similar scenarios in the Championship in the past. It is crucial to note that each game presents its unique set of challenges."
