Two renowned companies in the watch industry have united their forces. Rolex, a distinguished Swiss watchmaker, has procured Bucherer, a prominent retailer of timepieces on a global scale.

In an announcement, Rolex expressed that Bucherer will retain its current name and carry on functioning as a separate entity.

Rolex stated that it opted to acquire the retailer following the contemplation of the third-generation owner, Jörg Bucherer, who was thinking of selling the company due to the lack of immediate successors.

Rolex stated that this decision represents the intention of the brand to continue the prosperity of Bucherer and maintain the strong connection forged between the two companies since 1924.

The purchase requires the endorsement of Swiss competition authorities.

Bucherer is a globally recognized seller of watches and jewelry, offering a variety of brands. Their stores can be found in multiple countries, including Switzerland, the United States, England, Germany, France, Denmark, and Austria. Recently, they have been focusing on expanding their presence in the American market, which includes the reopening of the largest watch store in the country. Bucherer boasts over 100 sales outlets on a global scale. Out of those, 53 stores offer the renowned Rolex brand, while 48 stores distribute Tudor, an affiliated company of Rolex.

"This is going to change significantly," claims Alexander Linz, the creator of WatchAdvisor, a renowned YouTube channel focusing on watches and the watch industry. "There is absolutely no justification for Rolex not expanding its presence to all 100 stores. While it might not take place immediately, it will inevitably occur."

Furthermore, Linz suggests that this purchase will probably enable Rolex to exclusively market its highly desired timepieces through Bucherer outlets. This stands in contrast to Rolex's declaration affirming that the status quo of its sales network with other retailers will not be affected.

According to Linz, Jean-Frédéric Dufour is considered one of the most exceptional leaders in the field. This purchase is a significant triumph for the watch company.

According to the declaration from Rolex, Bucherer's leadership will stay the same without any alterations.

Rolex stated that they firmly believe that acquiring the Bucherer group is the optimal decision for their own brands, as well as the watch and jewelry partner brands, and the employees of the Bucherer group.
