The newcomer Marisa Abela plays Winehouse, the famous soul singer from London who gained popularity with debut album Frank in 2003 and later released Back to Black in 2006.

The individual who wrote and sang their own music had difficulty dealing with addiction and unwelcome attention from the media. They passed away at the young age of 27 in 2011 as a result of accidentally consuming too much alcohol.

The movie has been approved by the Winehouse family, who are in charge of Amy's estate. In the movie, actor Eddie Marsan portrays Amy's father, Mitch. In the trailer, Amy is shown getting a "Daddy's girl" tattoo on her left arm.

Amy's grandma Cynthia, whose name was tattooed on her right arm, is played by Lesley Manville in the movie. Jack O'Connell portrays her spouse from 2007 to 2009, Blake Fielder-Civil.
