Good Friday

What is Good Friday?

Good Friday is a Christian holiday that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. According to the Bible, Jesus was arrested, tried, and sentenced to death by crucifixion under the rule of Roman Governor Pontius Pilate. He was crucified on a Friday and died before sunset. The day is called Good Friday because it is believed that Jesus died to save humanity from sin and thus make the day a "good" one.

How is Good Friday celebrated?

Good Friday is a solemn day in the Christian calendar, marked by prayer, fasting, and reflection. It is traditionally observed with a Church service that is centered on the reading of the Passion story, special music, and communion. Many Christians also fast or abstain from meat on this day as a form of penance. In some countries, there are public processions and reenactments of the Crucifixion. Good Friday is part of the Easter Triduum, which includes Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday, and it marks the beginning of the Easter celebrations.
