A British Airways flight had to stop its takeoff because the airport officials got an email talking about a bomb attack just moments before the flight was to leave for Heathrow.

The plane ride from Bermuda to London, known as Flight BA158, was called off due to an emergency. The pilot sent out a signal using the code 7700, which signifies an urgent situation, and the air traffic control stopped the plane from taking off.

Authorities got an email warning on Sunday evening that mentioned a targeted BA flight.

The individuals onboard were rapidly removed while law enforcement and counter-terrorism officials arrived.

On Sunday evening, passengers were not able to take their flight after the emergency services gave the signal that everything was safe.

Due to a grand prix event occurring in Bermuda, there was a lack of available hotel rooms which resulted in some travelers being required to spend the night on the floors of the airport before their next scheduled flight.

According to British Airways, prioritizing the safety of their customers and colleagues is of utmost importance and they adhered to their regular protocols to evacuate the aircraft.

The plane had to be cancelled due to concerns of a possible bomb being brought onto the aircraft.

A representative from the Bermuda Airport announced that on the evening of May 5, 2024, just before 9:30pm, authorities were informed by the staff at LF Wade International Airport regarding a bomb threat email.
