The co-founder of PrettyLittleThing, Umar Kamani, got married and spent a whopping £20m on the wedding ceremony. The event featured live performances by well-known musicians such as Ronan Keating, Andrea Bocelli, and Mariah Carey.

He is well-known for his rapidly produced fashion apparel business that manufactures hundreds of clothing items each week.

Umar Kamani, one of the co-founders of PrettyLittleThing, is renowned for his generosity in offering products for free in "100% off" sales. His clothing items, such as tops and dresses, are so affordable that they are sold for a mere fraction of the original price.

However, things were completely different when Mr. Kamani, aged thirty-six, got married this weekend in a lavish wedding ceremony worth £20 million, held in the southern region of France.

Nada Kamani, who got married at the age of 31, donned a Christian Dior dress that was constructed using the finest possible fabric known as "peau de soie," which was soft and glowed brilliantly. The dress had taken an incredibly long time of 540 hours to be hand-crafted to perfection.

The attire made by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the innovative head of Dior, was completely unlike the low-priced, disposable dresses that have resulted in Mr. Kamani's wealth.

The gown was crafted by a trio of highly skilled seamstresses and a master pattern maker at Dior's workshop. It boasted an elegant sweetheart neckline, an extended train, and a delicate veil made with silk tulle and lace.

Vogue Arabia recently shared some exciting details about the royal wedding! They provided a detailed account of the original design sketches and the four fittings that were necessary for the bride's stunning gown. This information was shared mere moments after the couple said their vows.

The Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc hosted festivities for four days, including a formal welcome event with white tie attire and two wedding gatherings. Attendees enjoyed musical performances by famous artists such as Ronan Keating, Andrea Bocelli, and Mariah Carey.

The gathering by the pool was a delightful Arabian-themed event, featuring henna artists and mesmerizing performances by belly and fire dancers. The festivities culminated with a magnificent display of fireworks. The bride-to-be graced the occasion in a stunning, one-of-a-kind, floor-length white dress by Zuhair Murad.

The next day, the western-style wedding took place. The bride made her way down a path adorned with ivory flowers to meet her groom. He stood underneath a gazebo adorned with roses, dressed in a Tom Ford tuxedo.

While she walked towards the front, Bocelli sang The Prayer along with a complete group of musicians.

Mrs Kamani expressed that it was a dream come true for every young girl, however, doing it in an elegant manner and picturesque location alongside the man of her dreams, was something out of a fairytale.

"I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Nada wearing that dress," expressed Mr Kamani. "I was overwhelmed by emotions at that time."

Following a formal dinner, attendees such as Naomi Campbell and Rio Ferdinand boogied down while Carey belted out her chart-topping tunes.

In 2012, a tiny accessory business in the UK called PrettyLittleThing was born. However, it has since become one of the biggest fast fashion merchants worldwide.

Mr. Kamani acquired his business skills through his dad, Mahmud Abdullah Kamani, who is a British billionaire entrepreneur and also serves as the co-founder and executive chairman of the Boohoo Group.

In 2006, he commenced employment at Boohoo with the aim of acquiring insights on the family corporation, which has received negative reviews for endorsing disposable fashion.

After six years had passed, a 24-year-old man named Mr Kamani established PrettyLittleThing alongside his brother Adam. They promptly enlisted celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora, and Jessie J to promote their clothing label.

The company received backlash in November 2021 for their involvement in promoting unsustainable fast-fashion through their Black Friday sale, which saw certain items being sold at a complete discount of 100%.

According to the UN Environment Programme, the fashion industry consumes a lot of water, making it the second largest consumer after agriculture. It's also responsible for a significant amount of carbon emissions, estimated at 8-10% of the world's total. This means that the industry contributes more greenhouse gases than all international flights and maritime shipping combined.

Reports say that Mr. Kamani has an estimated net worth of £797 million. In April of last year, he made public his decision to resign as the CEO of PrettyLittleThing.

According to a previous chat with Vogue Arabia, Mr. Kamani apparently stated, "I don't concur with the depiction of fast fashion being regarded as something that is easily disposed of or thrown away strictly based on its cost."

He emphasized that PrettyLittleThing was dedicated to ethical sourcing, utilized dispatch bags that can be recycled, and refrained from incinerating or dumping unsold garments.

The luxurious marriage arrives at a time when Boohoo, the parent organization of PrettyLittleThing, is experiencing increasing stress and strain.

The store is currently dealing with a double challenge - not only is it facing tough competition from the Chinese brand Shein, but it's also making efforts to recover from a series of accusations claiming that it was involved in modern-day slavery.

Allegations stating that Boohoo had been engaging in forced labor within its supply chain surfaced in 2020. Later, an investigation led by Alison Levitt KC provided confirmation of these claims, which were quite severe in nature.

According to the report from the barrister, there is strong evidence to support claims that the working conditions and payment rates in multiple factories throughout Leicester are both inadequate.

During that period, John Lyttle, who is the manager of Boohoo, expressed that the investigation did reveal a multitude of shortcomings and referred to these issues as being inexcusable.

He made a declaration stating that their group is dedicated to conducting their business affairs and associations with moral principles and honesty. Also, they have plans to establish measures and regulations to decrease the potential of slavery happening in their own organization and supply network, in order to safeguard those who are at high risk of being subjected to it.
