Scotland are going to the Euros... so what now?

Scotland

Passports? Confirmed. Large container of detergent for a family? Confirmed. Blow-up mythical creature? Confirmed. New feeling of joy, anticipation and satisfaction? Definitely confirmed.

This is not a false alarm, ladies and gentlemen. Scotland is advancing to the men's European Championships for the second consecutive time.

BBC Scotland has already received reports from supporters who have booked rooms, scheduled their flights, and even called in favors from their old school pen pals to arrange a place to stay in Dusseldorf for the upcoming summer. In light of these exciting preparations, what essential information should the Tartan Army be aware of as they get ready to celebrate in Germany?

As we anticipate the other countries to follow in Scotland's lead, it's worth examining what Scotland has in store for next summer.

Who Else Is Coming To The Party?

Last Friday, France, Belgium, and Portugal confirmed their spots in a certain event. On Sunday, Spain, Turkey, and Scotland also secured their places in the same event.

Germany has secured the place as the host nation, while the remaining 17 spots are still available. Three of these spots will be filled through the play-offs from the Nations League, which was previously mentioned.

The traditional team competition will end in November, and the remaining three teams will be placed randomly in the Uefa tournament after the playoffs in March of the following year.

How Did The Game End?

The raffle will occur at 4:00 pm Greenwich Mean Time on December 2nd in the innovative and modern Philharmonic Hall situated in Hamburg.

During the draw, teams will be randomly assigned to six separate groups each consisting of four teams. The countries will be separated into four different categories at the start of the day. Teams who qualify through the playoffs will be placed in the fourth category, while Germany will be assigned to the first one. However, the allocation of the remaining teams is yet to be determined.

Here's where things start to get compelling. Instead of relying on global rankings that rank European nations (Scotland sitting as 17th), seedings will be determined by performance in Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Currently, Scotland must emerge victorious in their last two matches and rely on Spain making a mistake if they want to have a chance of being placed in the highest category during December.

Basically, to be placed in pot one of their group, the Scottish team needs to finish first in Group A and have a higher score than four other teams that finish on top of their respective groups. However, there are more complicated factors to consider beyond this. It is best to avoid getting into that situation.

Even though Andy Robertson and his colleagues have secured a place in the finals, it is crucial to keep up the effort and hope for Spain's misfortune to secure a higher rank in the group. Can you picture it?

"Is It Time To Book My Flight Yet?"

If you haven't already talked to Davie at the nearby bus company and reserved a 15-seater vehicle to leave from Bellshill sometime next week, then there are already a lot of Tartan Army supporters who are making plans for their trip to Germany.

We have received word from supporters who are tracking flights departing from Sydney. One man plans to cycle all the way from Glasgow to our event. Meanwhile, another individual has cleverly arranged for his friend's bachelor party to coincide with our opening weekend in Dusseldorf. Don't criticize the participants, but rather disagree with the activity itself.

During the upcoming summer, there will be 10 cities hosting visitors. Hamburg will be located in the northern part, while Munich will be positioned in the southern section. Moving towards the east, we have cities such as Berlin and Leipzig. As for the western region, Dusseldorf will be amongst a group of cities hosting events.

If you're feeling restless and eager to plan ahead of December's event, it can be challenging to determine the best location to base yourself. As the fixtures for each group will be spread out throughout Germany, it may be difficult to pinpoint the ideal spot, making it somewhat of a gamble.

Scotland supporters, keep in mind that the location of the final game is Berlin.

Exploring Four Cities By Campervan - What's Your Take?

Rob said that during the October game against Cyprus, he and his friends began to discuss buying plane tickets. By half time, they had booked return flights to Cologne for 10 days, which will allow them to attend both group games. Rob has made four hotel reservations in different cities and he hopes that the schedule is favorable to their plans. He also hopes that the free cancellation policy is not a scam. He is excited about the trip and it will be his first time traveling abroad with the Tartan Army, but not the last.

Baljeet has been pleading with her mother to take a trip to Berlin next summer to visit their family friends. Although her mum is considering it, Baljeet has not yet shared with her about a huge occasion taking place there.

Thankfully, I reside and am employed in Germany. Currently anticipating reservations for any available sleeping arrangements such as an extra bed, sofa or even just a spot on the floor in my hometown.

My friends and I will be traveling from Aberdeen to Germany using a ferry in Newcastle. We'll be riding in a blue and white 1988 VW LT camper van named Aalto with eight seats. Our vehicle is very loud, so you'll hear us before you see us. We're very excited for the trip and planning to have a great time. Go Scotland!
