Valencia 2-2 Real Madrid: Jude Bellingham sent off in wild finish after late winner denied as Vinicius scores twice - Eurosport

Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham was given a red card during an eventful finale when his last-minute goal was disallowed in Real Madrid's 2-2 tie with Valencia.

Vinicius Jr scored two goals to help Real Madrid salvage a draw in an exciting match, where Valencia scored two goals in just three minutes to shock the top team of Spain. This match also saw Bellingham make a comeback after recovering from an injury.

The game was intense for both teams as Vinicius came back to the place where he was previously subjected to racist abuse back in May 2023. However, he began the game on a positive note by showing support for a ceremony that was conducted to honour 10 individuals who lost their lives in an apartment fire in Valencia the previous week. There were strong feelings involved in the game.

The fans at Mestella made a big impact right from the start of the match. As a result of some determined play and a little bit of luck, Los Ches were able to score two goals in quick succession. The first goal was provided by Hugo Duro, while the second was a gift from Dani Carvajal to Roman Yaremchuk.

Vinicius did not want to fall behind, so he scored a crucial goal for the home team right before the end of the first half. He then celebrated by raising his fist in the air, a symbol of Black power, in front of the Valencia supporters. In the second half, he also managed to score again, bringing his team to the same score as their opponents.

The situation remained the same until the end of the game, but that doesn't mean both teams didn't make any attempts. Valencia had a chance to score a late penalty, but the referee decided to use VAR and overturn it. The game ended just as Real Madrid was about to send a cross into the box, which Bellingham ended up putting into the net. Unfortunately, Bellingham's reaction led to him being given a red card after the incident.

If Girona and Barcelona emerge victorious in their matches tomorrow, they have the opportunity to narrow Real's lead to just four and six points, respectively.

Girona will be playing against Mallorca, who are in danger of going down to a lower division. Meanwhile, Barcelona has a more challenging match ahead of them as they will be traveling across the country to face Athletic Bilbao, who are in fifth place and have a chance to advance to the Champions League if they win and other teams' results are favorable to them.

The game has a high bar to meet. Before Valencia's first game since the tragedy, the Estadio Mestella was already filled with excitement. The intensity level rose even higher when Rodrygo somehow got away with elbowing the home captain, Jose Gaya, in the back and scoring a goal.

Real Madrid appeared uneasy during the initial half of the match, which allowed Valencia to take complete advantage. However, Vinicius became the savior for his team by securing a goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time, which was lengthened due to Gaya's injury. This gave Real Madrid a glimmer of hope. Moreover, Vinicius repeated his extraordinary feat by scoring another goal in response to the whistles he received whenever he held the ball.

Madrid's Real Steel Saves Point In Impressive Display

Real Madrid had difficulty controlling the game during the first half. Their attempts to soothe the boisterous home fans through sustained periods of possession were ineffective as they failed to create any scoring opportunities.

During most of the first half, Bellingham and Vinicius had different ideas, resulting in Los Blancos being restricted to long-range shots against the well-structured Valencia defense.

Nevertheless, the team received a prize when Carlo Ancelotti adjusted their playing style to a more straightforward approach. This caused the Valencia defence to become exhausted, resulting in openings that Bellingham and replacements Luka Modric and Brahim Diaz could more comfortably take advantage of - culminating with the equalizing goal being scored.

During the second half, Bellingham had a chance to tie the game, but unfortunately, he missed the target after a well-executed play. At the end of the game, he managed to score what could have been the winning goal, but it was disallowed.

Vinicius Junior Named Player Of Match

Right from the start, both forwards from Real Madrid seemed very nervous. After the incident involving Gaya, Vinicius was fortunate enough to not receive a booking of his own when he pushed Pepelu quite late.

During the game, Rodrygo seemed to be quite annoyed and dissatisfied until being substituted by Brahim Diaz, as observed by Ancelotti. On the other hand, Vinicius played remarkably well and achieved the crucial point for Real Madrid.

Valencia's Mamardashvili received a rating of 6, while Foulquier scored an 8. Diakhaby's performance earned him a rating of 5, while Mosquera received a 6. Gaya and Perez scored high at 7, followed by Pepelu and Guerra at 6. Canos and Yaremchuk both scored a 7, and Duro also played. The substitutes included Lopez, Guillamon, Gonzalez, Amallah, and Ozkacar, with ratings ranging from 5 to 6.

The Real Madrid team had a game recently and received some ratings. Some players were given a score of six, while others received a seven or eight. Lunin, Carvajal, Rudiger, Mendy, and Kroos were given a score of six. Valverde and Rodrygo received a similar rating, but Vinicius scored an impressive eight. The substitutes did quite well too, with Diaz, Modric, and Garcia all receiving a score of seven, while Joselu and Nacho scored a six. Camavinga and Bellingham were standouts, scoring seven each.

In the 10th minute of the game, something shocking happened. It wasn't a player who messed up, but the referee! Rodrygo was involved in a late tackle on Gaya, and to make things worse, he hit him with his elbow too. This caused Gaya a lot of pain and he needed medical attention. The ref missed all of this and didn't punish Rodrygo. However, both players should have received yellow-cards for their actions. To make matters worse, Rodrygo muttered some words under his breath, but he made sure to block his mouth from the cameras when he did it.

At the 27th minute, Valencia scored a goal against Real Madrid! The fans at the Mestalla stadium went wild with excitement. It was a very important night for the Valencia supporters, and Hugo Duro made them proud by scoring an amazing header past Lunin. Guerra made the only change to the starting XI that played last week, and he won the ball back in midfield. Foulquier received the ball from Guerra but initially lost possession to Vinicius. However, Foulquier was determined and kept on fighting. He then managed to send a deep cross into the penalty area. Fran Perez struck the ball with a perfectly mishit half-volley that accidentally went towards Duro. Luckily, Duro proved why he is also the top scorer of Valencia by scoring his 11th goal of the season.

After 30 minutes of play, Valencia scored a goal against Real Madrid, making the score 2-0. Real Madrid seemed to struggle after falling behind and Valencia took advantage of this. Dani Carvajal was under pressure and made a bad pass back to Lunin, leaving him vulnerable. Yaremchuk took advantage of the mistake and quickly ran towards the ball, getting past Lunin and shooting it into the open net. It was an amazing three-minute sequence for Valencia.

Forty-five plus five minutes have passed in the game, and now we have a goal! Valencia has just scored against Real Madrid, bringing the score to 2-1 in Valencia's favor. Vinicius is the player who managed to score for Real Madrid, and it was a surprise goal that Valencia is sure to be disappointed about. The second goal for Valencia was made up for by Carvajal, who sent in a cross that Mamardashvili was slow to react to, allowing Vinicius to shoot the ball into the net. Vinicius celebrated his goal by making a gesture of solidarity with the black community.

At the 56th minute mark, Bellingham had a great opportunity to score, but unfortunately, he missed it. He made a smart move by sneaking behind Valencia's defense and receiving an excellent pass. Bellingham then pretended to shoot, causing Christhian Mosquera to fall to the ground. All he had to do was take the shot, and it would have been his 17th goal of the La Liga season. However, Mamardashvili was able to save it with a remarkable stretch of his leg. Bellingham will surely regret missing that chance.

In the 76th minute, there was a GOAL!!! Valencia and Real Madrid were tied 2-2 and the scorer was Vinicius. Vinicius had previously received a yellow card in the same location where he made a racist remark last season. Modric held the ball at the edge of the box before passing it to Brahim Diaz's who made a run. Vinicius was one of several players who were scrambling to get on the end of Diaz's clever cross.

In the 91st minute, there was a potential penalty call for Valencia after Duro fell in the box due to pressure from Fran Garcia. The referee initially pointed to the spot, but after reviewing the footage with VAR, the decision was overturned. It appeared that Duro went down easily on his own and there wasn't enough contact from Garcia to warrant a penalty. This will, however, lead to an increase in the already added seven minutes of stoppage time.

Duro has now scored 11 goals in La Liga this season, which puts him at the seventh place for the golden boot competition. He's tied with Antoine Griezmann. Unfortunately, Bellingham was unable to increase his lead.
