The manager is being asked by prosecutors to serve a jail time of four years and nine months for not reporting an income of one million euros.

The Spanish judicial authorities are requesting a prison sentence of four years and nine months for Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, based on the accusation that he did not report his earnings to the tax authorities.

On Wednesday, prosecutors released a statement stating that Ancelotti is being charged with committing two instances of tax fraud that amount to 1 million euros ($1.1 million).

According to the Madrid state prosecutor's office, the 64-year-old Italian is being charged for not reporting his image rights earnings in 2014 and 2015, which resulted in a loss for Spain's treasury.

He has been accused of supposedly creating a convoluted network of shell companies to conceal his additional income.

In July, a court in Spain ruled that Ancelotti must face trial regarding the matter. However, there is currently no scheduled date for the trial.

Ancelotti led Madrid as their coach from the year 2013 until 2015, and has now returned to take charge of the club again in 2021.

Ancelotti, a renowned football coach, has achieved great success in his career. He holds a unique record of winning the Champions League four times, twice with Madrid and twice with AC Milan. Additionally, he is the only coach who has managed to win domestic league titles in five different countries including England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France.

Spain has taken strict action against prominent soccer players who have failed to fulfill their financial obligations.

Jose Mourinho, who previously coached Madrid, has been given a suspended sentence of one year as he confessed to tax fraud charges in 2019. Iconic football players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were also convicted of tax fraud in Spain.
