People often buy bonds for children who forget about them. If NS&I doesn't have the correct claimant address, rewards can be missed.

If you're a bond holder, you can update your details and get prizes paid straight to your bank account by taking care of your account online. This is possible on the NS&I website.

Signing up online can avoid losing prizes in the mail. A report showed how serious this issue was last year.

Money Saving Expert asked for information and found out that over 180,000 prizes weren't given out. The prizes were worth £8 million and £66,900 of that was from the year before.

Chances Of Winning Premium Bonds?

Earlier this year, the prize fund's interest rate increased from 2.2% to 3%.

The chances of winning are still 24,000 to 1. But now there are three times more opportunities to get prizes. These rewards can reach £100,000, £50,000, £25,000, £10,000 and £5,000.

The prize fund rate was increased in December. This is the third time it has gone up in eight months. In May 2022, it was only 1 per cent. Now it has tripled.

This means that an additional £80m was given as prizes in the January draw.

NS&I has raised interest rates on some of its variable products besides Premium Bonds.

Ian Ackerley, the NS&I boss, said that they've updated the rates for Premium Bonds, Direct Saver, Income Bonds, and Investment Account. The reason for doing this is to make sure their products are competitively priced.

By doing this, we will keep everyone happy - savers, taxpayers and financial service companies.
