Kylian Mbappé tells PSG he will leave in summer as suitors circle for signature

Paris Saint-Germain has been informed by Kylian Mbappé that he intends to depart from the French champions at the conclusion of the present season. This announcement has the potential to trigger a frenzied struggle among some of Europe's most prestigious clubs to secure his services.

The departure of the 25-year-old marks the end of a remarkable seven-year run where he established himself as the most highly regarded striker in the world. Real Madrid have been keen to sign Mbappé for a long time, but they have not been able to come to an agreement with the player. This means that the door is still open for a Premier League club to swoop in and meet Mbappé's significant financial requirements.

Mbappé, who rejected an astounding £259m offer from Al-Hilal of the Saudi Pro League last year, is set to become a free agent when his contract expires in June. He chose not to extend the agreement by an additional year. The details of his departure are still being worked out by both the player and the club, but they plan to settle everything soon.

Mbappé may leave PSG without compensation when his contract expires, but there are different ways he could depart in an agreeable manner for everyone involved. One option is for Mbappé to renew his contract with a previously established sale agreement, ensuring that PSG gets a transfer fee; he could also give his signing-on fee from his future team to PSG or be willing to give up bonus payments when he leaves. Most people expect that Mbappé will work out an agreement with his current club, which helped him become so successful.

Real Madrid is ready to offer Mbappé their most lucrative contract, marking the end of their previous failed attempt to bring him aboard in 2022 when he decided to stay with PSG. However, negotiations are not progressing rapidly, and rival teams, either in England or elsewhere, may still feel optimistic about his potential signing.

PSG had anticipated that Mbappé, who scored three goals for France in the 2022 World Cup grand finale, would prolong his time with the team. However, instead, the club will utilize his departure to help usher in a new era of younger players and rejuvenation.

PSG will be starting their upcoming season without the likes of Mbappé, Neymar, and Lionel Messi, which hasn't happened since 2016-17. PSG views this as the end of the "Galáctico" era and their decision to let go of Messi's hefty £171m salary opens up opportunities for new players to join the team. Among their targets is Victor Osimhen from Napoli and they are also looking to offer a new deal to 17-year-old homegrown player Warren Zaïre-Emery, who has shown great potential.

On Wednesday night's match in the Champions League, Mbappé managed to score a goal leading PSG to win over Real Sociedad in the last-16 first-leg game. PSG wishes that their star player could finally achieve the ultimate victory of winning the greatest European tournament, which has eluded him despite his collection of five Ligue 1 titles. This season may be Mbappé's chance to sign off on a high and conquer Europe's most coveted prize.
