Luke Humphries, who currently holds the top spot in the world rankings, brought great joy to his fellow countrymen by defeating Michael van Gerwen to claim victory on the 15th night of the Premier League held in Leeds.

Humphries wore a shirt with the Leeds United theme, as he enjoyed the excitement of the fans at the First Direct Arena. He did exceptionally well throughout the match and managed to beat Van Gerwen in the final leg.

In the first leg of the final, Van Gerwen, a Dutchman, managed to create a lead of 3-1 after defeating Premier League leader Luke Littler. Later, Humphries made a strong comeback and tied the score 3-3.

The game between the two men was very close, with many throws being lost before Humphries finally got his chance to win with his first match darts after missing his shot at 32.

However, the player currently ranked as number one in the world was unable to successfully complete a score of 78. As a result, Van Gerwen was able to tie the score at 5-5.

Both males had opportunities to win the game, but unfortunately were unable to do so. Eventually, 'Cool Hand' Humphries emerged victorious after hitting the double top with his final dart, earning himself his fourth win of the evening.

When I entered this place, I sensed a small amount of stress, I must admit," Humphries stated on Sky Sports.

I felt the weight of the situation on me. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase my talents to an unfamiliar audience.

"I had an incredible time tonight. Emerging as the victor was definitely one of the most memorable moments of my dart-playing journey."

Humphries chose to enter to the tune of Kaiser Chief's 'I Predict A Riot' and expressed his admiration for the enthusiastic audience. He described the experience as something out of a dream.

I performed exceptionally tonight, however, the ultimate deciding factor is your performance on the 17th night. Winning the Premier League Championship would hold great significance for me.

Littler is still ahead by five points in the league standings. Humphries and Van Gerwen have also earned their spot in the O2. The competition for the fourth play-off spot in Sheffield next week seems to be between Nathan Aspinall and Michael Smith.

Van Gerwen almost achieved a perfect nine-dart finish during his semi-final victory. He secured a 3-1 advantage over Littler in the fourth leg, but narrowly missed the nine-dart finish. In the following leg, both players missed the target before Van Gerwen won with a double one throw.

The man from the Netherlands took advantage of his skills by finishing with a score of 74 and securing his position in the final by hitting double six. He achieved four maximum scores, while Littler's average score of 86.89 ended up negatively affecting him.

Humphries was able to hit four 180s during his dominant 6-1 victory over Michael Smith, who was hoping to secure a spot in the playoffs. Humphries' performance resulted in him achieving an impressive match average of almost 103.

Beforehand, Littler had effortlessly defeated former world champion Peter Wright with a score of 6-1 in their quarter-final match.

During the first match on Thursday night, Van Gerwen managed to win with a score of 6-3 after trailing behind. He was able to score five consecutive legs to secure his victory over Gerwyn Price, a Welsh player who returned after missing the previous week due to a back injury caused by a trapped nerve.

Humphries, who is currently ranked as the top darts player in the world, defeated Rob Cross with a score of 6-1. During the match, he hit two 180s and ended up with an overall average score of 109.48. Meanwhile, Smith emerged victorious over Nathan Aspinall with a 6-3 win. Aspinall missed several of his double attempts, which ultimately cost him the match.
