Leeds United

In the last 11 games of Leeds United, Wilfried Gnonto has successfully scored 7 goals.

Leeds United climbed up to the summit of the Championship table for the first occasion in this season by defeating Millwall at Elland Road.

In a breathtaking moment just over 30 minutes into the game, Wilfried Gnonto scored an impressive goal for Leeds, hitting the target from a formidable distance outside the box.

In the second half, Georginio Rutter had a chance to increase their lead. He made a shot at the Lions' goalkeeper Matija Sarkic, but his attempt was saved. Rutter tried to score again on the rebound, but the ball hit the post after being deflected.

The victory was sealed by Dan James, who came on as a substitute in the second half. He scored a goal from close range after receiving a superb pass from Rutter, who had crossed the ball in front of the goal. This happened with 11 minutes left to play.

The outcome boosted Leeds' position above Leicester in terms of goal difference, even though they have played one more game than the Foxes. Ipswich, on the other hand, trail by just one point in third place.

Enzo Maresca's team did not participate in a league match this weekend, but unfortunately suffered a 4-2 defeat against Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Millwall is still in 16th position and has a four-point advantage over the relegation zone. The team recently experienced the end of a four-game unbeaten streak under the leadership of their returning coach, Neil Harris.

In the opening half of the match, Leeds team showed their domination and their efforts paid off when Italy's Gnonto got hold of the ball at the 33rd minute. He turned and took a shot with his left foot from afar, which went past the goalkeeper Sarkic and into the goalpost.

During a recent booking, Jake Cooper made a reckless play by raising his knee and making contact with Joe Rodon's face. Although many thought it warranted a penalty, the referee, Stephen Martin, did not signal for one.

The team led by Daniel Farke mostly controlled the game while the Lions owed their competitive position to the efforts of Sarkic in goal.

Rutter had two fast opportunities to score a goal, but Sarkic stopped him both times. This was the closest moment Leeds had to increasing their lead.

Towards the end of the game, Michael Obafemi managed to maneuver his way into the Leeds penalty area even though the visitors didn't have many chances to go forward. However, when he was under pressure from Ethan Ampadu, he missed the target by shooting high and wide.

At the opposite side of the field, Patrick Bamford almost scored, but Japhet Tanganga's excellent defense prevented him from coolly finishing the shot.

James remained steady and composed, ultimately securing the home team's 12th victory in their past 13 games.

During an interview with BBC Radio Leeds, Daniel Farke, the manager of Leeds United, conveyed a message.

I feel really good about how the guys performed today because it was a unique challenge. Lately, we've had to play games very frequently, sometimes even every other day.

Since we had around nine to ten days gap between the matches, it has become difficult for us to adapt and face a highly skilled team.

In my opinion, the team from Leeds played exceptionally well and deserved to win the match. Throughout the entire 90 minutes, they proved to be the superior team.

There were times when I was exceptionally content with the players' performance. Their commitment, mindset, and confidence were very impressive.

I believed that we confronted the task posed by Leeds United, not solely in terms of the players and coaching staff, but also with the support of the fans.

The only thing that let me down was the fact that we let in goals at crucial moments. I believed that we were dominating the game in both the first and second half when we gave up the goals.
