Hunter Schafer Faces Horrors at German Resort in Neon’s ‘Cuckoo’ Trailer

In the initial preview of the scary film Cuckoo, Hunter Schafer realizes that not all vacations in Europe are peaceful.

On August 9th, Tilman Singer's movie Cuckoo will be playing in theaters thanks to Neon. The film follows Gretchen (played by Schafer), a teenager who takes a job from Herr Konig (Dan Stevens) at a resort in the German Alps and ends up in a situation she did not expect. Alongside Schafer and Stevens, the cast includes Jessica Henwick, Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csokas, Greta Fernández, and Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey.

Stevens invites, "Are you interested in working for me at the resort?" in the preview. Afterwards, Schafer inquires, "What was the reason for bringing us to this place?"

The movie that screened at the Berlin International Film Festival in February and later at SXSW was written and directed by singer Luz. The producers of the movie are Thor Bradwell, Markus Halberschmidt, Ken Kao, Ben Rimmer, Josh Rosenbaum, and Maria Tsigka.

David Rooney, the leading movie critic for The Hollywood Reporter, expressed that Schafer and Stevens played two very dynamic enemies in his review. Even though the movie isn't quite scary enough, it's possible that with the support of Neon, it could become obscure enough to gain a following of devoted fans.

Schafer is recognized for her role as Jules Vaughn in the popular HBO drama Euphoria, which won an Emmy Award. She also acted in Lionsgate's upcoming action film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, set to be released in 2023. Furthermore, she will appear in Kind of Kindness, an anthology film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (known for Poor Things) and featuring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, and Willem Dafoe.

Stevens is the lead actor in the film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, produced by Warner Bros. It is now playing in cinemas, and he will also appear in another movie called Abigail, which will be released by Universal this month.
