Hunter Schafer, who starred in the TV show Euphoria, has expressed that she is not interested in portraying characters who are transgender anymore.

The famous 25-year-old transgender celebrity became prominent by portraying Jules Vaughn, a trans character, in the famous teen series on HBO.

According to Schafer, she believed that she could progress more as an actress if she didn't prioritize it as the main focus of her work.

She expressed her hard work and determination to overcome the challenges in her transition. Now, she desires to live her life as a girl and continue progressing forward.

In an interview with GQ magazine, Schafer expressed her disagreement regarding being referred to as a "trans actress", stating that it is disrespectful towards herself and her aspirations.

She kept on talking and shared, "I have been presented many transgender characters but I am not interested in playing them. Discussing it is also not something I want to do."

I am aware that I am currently one of the most well-known trans individuals in the media. Due to this, I feel a sense of accountability and perhaps a slight remorse for not taking on more of a spokesperson role.

In the end, I am convinced that not placing it as the primary focus of my actions will enable me to reach greater heights.

"I believe that making progress and achieving impressive results, for the sake of advancing the movement, would be much more beneficial than constantly discussing it."

In 2015's movie The Danish Girl, the role of a transgender character was portrayed by Eddie Redmayne, which earned him a nomination for an Oscar.

For quite some time, Hollywood has been discussing the issue of representation when it comes to casting. A lot of members belonging to the transgender community express their views stating that individuals who are transgender in reality should play the roles of trans characters on screen.

Several actors have said sorry or shown remorse for accepting trans roles in the past. In the year 2021, Eddie Redmayne remarked about his involvement in The Danish Girl (2015), stating: "I produced that movie with the utmost sincerity, but I believe I miscalculated."

Some people have claimed that acting is all about transforming into a new character, and that if an actor only plays roles that reflect their own personality, it would be too restrictive.

Schafer played a major role in the realistic Emmy-winning show Euphoria, alongside other big names like Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney. Fans can look forward to the show's upcoming third season.

She has also recently acted in the Hunger Games prequel called The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes. Furthermore, she has been selected to play the leading role in the upcoming psychological film Cuckoo.
