Hunter Schafer has rejected ‘tons’ of trans roles: ‘I just don’t want to do it’

Hunter Schafer

Hunter Schafer, who stars in the show Euphoria, recently stated that she is no longer interested in portraying characters who are transgender.

The superstar, who is 25 years old and works as both a model and an actress, gained worldwide recognition for her role as Jules Vaughn, a transgender student attending high school, in the edgy and realistic television series Euphoria. Her co-star in the show was the talented Zendaya, who portrayed Rue Bennett.

In an interview with GQ magazine, American celebrity Schafer expressed her desire for her acting career to not revolve solely around her transgender identity in the future.

She expressed that she put in a lot of effort to reach her current position, overcoming challenging stages during her transition process. Now, all she desires is to live as a female and progress with her life.

I have been approached numerous times for transgender roles, but I am not interested in accepting them. I prefer not to discuss this topic any further.

I am aware that I am currently one of the well-known transgender individuals in the media. As a result, I acknowledge my responsibility and maybe even some remorse for not being more vocal about my experiences.

In the end, I strongly believe that focusing on other aspects of my work will be more beneficial for my progress.

"I believe that making progress and accomplishing great things that benefit 'the movement' will be more beneficial than constantly discussing it."

It's anticipated that Schafer will make a comeback for another season of Euphoria that got delayed, though she has recently appeared in the popular prequel of Hunger Games titled The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, and will also play the leading role in an upcoming psychological thriller called Cuckoo from Tilman Singer.

The performer expressed that she has intentionally refrained from mentioning the term transgender during discussions about her endeavors as a means of shifting the attention away from her personal identity.

"It didn't happen on its own accord. Even if I didn't intervene, every article would still label me as a 'Transsexual Actress'," she explained.

Once I utter those words, it ignites a frenzy. It took me some time to grasp this concept, and it also took me some time to realize that I don't desire to be associated with that, and it belittles me and my aspirations in the end.

"After finishing high school, I got tired of discussing the same topic," she included.
