Prior to the broadcast of Professor T season 3, Barney White, who portrays DS Dan Winters, cautioned viewers to brace for a bumpy ride. However, the finale took us all by surprise.

There were two significant occurrences, with the initial one being when Jasper found out about his father's passing.

The instructor (Ben Miller) always thought that his father had taken his own life, but things took a surprising twist when it was revealed that his mother Adelaide (played by Frances de la Tour) had struck him on the head to safeguard her child during one of her husband's drunken fits.

In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Miller discussed the recent revelation and described it as a significant event. He explained that the character came to understand the immense sacrifice his mother made for him and how he misjudged her intentions.

In my opinion, kids tend to find someone to hold responsible for things that go wrong in their lives, and sometimes that individual happens to be their closest parent. However, he has recently come to the realization that his negative feelings towards his mother were unwarranted, and that his assumptions about her intentions were completely misguided.

Miller proceeded to talk about how his role has developed throughout three seasons in consideration with his newfound knowledge about his mother.

He expressed that embarking on big mental transformations may seem simple at the start. However, the real challenge lies in remaining in the uncomfortable and vulnerable space once you've entered it, rather than retreating as a defense mechanism.

In the initial season, it was apparent that he had a strong urge to discover the truth. This is the rationale behind his choice to relocate to the forsaken house situated in Cambridge.

He decided to collaborate with the police once more because it helps him reconnect with reality. The show he is working on focuses on a character who is disconnected from the real world and tries to escape their isolation to become part of society. It's a huge undertaking with a journey of self-discovery.

During season 3, she had just gotten a promotion and her bond with Winter was stronger than ever before. As a result, Winter asked her to marry him. Unfortunately, their time together was ended suddenly and violently in a heartbreaking way.

White expressed that the situation was distressing to one's emotional state while Miller conveyed that the progress was deeply unfortunate.
