Four taken to hospital after military horses break loose in central London

A group of military horses got out of control and ran through central London, hitting some cars and causing injuries to four people. These individuals were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Shocked observers recounted an instance of complete chaos when a group of horses, one being white and covered in blood, unfurled havoc along the streets during peak traffic hours.

Two individuals were observed sprinting down the street near Aldwych. One of them crashed into a stationary taxi stationed right outside the Clermont Hotel situated in Buckingham Palace Road, causing extensive damage to the Mercedes people carrier's windows. Furthermore, a horse also collided with a parked double-decker tour bus, resulting in the breakage of the windscreen.

On Wednesday around 8:40am, there was chaos during an extended exercise in Belgravia. The exercise involved six soldiers and seven horses from the Household Cavalry stationed at Hyde Park barracks.

Four members of the service were forcibly ejected from their horses, causing five of the equines to escape. It has been reported that three soldiers were evaluated at a hospital due to their injuries, but their conditions were not deemed critical. All of the horses were eventually captured and secured.

Two horses were found and captured close to Limehouse tunnel, which is approximately five miles away. Posts on social media containing visuals displayed a black 4x4 vehicle with blue lights trailing two of the horses between Tower Bridge and the tunnel.

According to the BBC, the commotion caused by builders shifting concrete in Belgravia could have scared the creatures at first.

The London ambulance service got alert from three different places about the horses. The first call came at 8.25 am informing about someone who got thrown off from a horse on Buckingham Palace Road. Shortly after two minutes, the second call came from the nearby Belgrave Square, where two people got injured. The third call arrived at 8.35 am, notifying about an incident at the junction of Chancery Lane and Fleet Street, and the fourth person was taken to the hospital.

A person called Roland who works for Tootbus witnessed chaotic scenes near Victoria. He saw horses that had come from the bus station running around wildly. People were trying to avoid them, causing a lot of confusion and disorder.

Another employee of the tour bus, Mahmood, stated that a horse collided with the bus and caused chaos. He witnessed two riderless horses galloping away and one rider being able to calm down their horse. Additionally, an ambulance was called to help an injured rider.

Robbie, a taxi driver, recounted how he almost got hit by horses while driving. He was on the Mall, near Buckingham Palace when he heard a lot of commotion. Curious, he glanced behind him and saw three or four horses, with two of them dashing towards Trafalgar Square. One of the horses was white and bloody, as he described to BBC Radio London.

As I glanced at the mirror, I noticed their approach towards me, and at that moment, I had two customers seated at the back, which made me anxious about their safety. Fortunately, the vehicle deviated towards the center of the roadway and proceeded, but they were traveling at a considerable velocity.

A different taxi driver, Sean, told a story about spotting three horses running fast towards Buckingham Palace.

During an interview with BBC Radio London, he stated that he was driving on Buckingham Palace Road when he noticed a rider lying on the ground and receiving medical attention. Additionally, he saw that a Mercedes Vito parked outside the Grosvenor Hotel had its side severely damaged and was covered in blood. He concluded that the white horse had hit the vehicle while running, based on the shattered windows.

According to a statement given to the Telegraph by Bashir Aden, who is 48 years old and works in construction, he witnessed a soldier fall onto the street after a horse collided with a car. One of Aden's colleagues called the police for assistance. The fall was quite forceful and caused the soldier to scream in pain. There was blood visible on the surface of the parked vehicle nearby.

As per the blog, Megan Morra recounted her experience of seeing police officers hurrying down the lane between Buckingham Palace and Victoria station at 8.35 am. She also noticed a police officer leading a black horse that was badly wounded. The horse seemed to have an injury to its head, and there was blood visible on it.

She informed BBC News that there was a significant amount of blood present. She expressed feeling somewhat upset when observing the unfortunate horse.

According to a representative from the Army, some horses that were training in the morning were able to break free. Fortunately, they have all been found and taken back to where they live. Unfortunately, some people and horses were hurt and are currently receiving medical care.
