In the beginning of 2020, Wasil Daoud began sharing funny clips showcasing his family. However, he eventually changed his focus to the culinary realm. Currently, he prepares substantial meals and shares them with those who do not have homes. As a result, he has managed to generate a significant income this year through YouTube, Facebook, and Snapchat, totaling to an amount in the five-figure range.

When the food innovator, Wasil Daoud, arises from his slumber, his mind is already occupied with thoughts of the components and procedures necessary to capture his upcoming TikTok video, as well as contemplating the recipients for his culinary creations.

Daoud embarked on his content creation journey in 2015, when he was just 13 years old, by producing videos on YouTube. While most of his videos entailed comical skits, his commitment to becoming a creator took a serious turn when he became a member of TikTok in March 2020.

"I had always desired to become a content producer for a significant period, and while observing my friends engage in this field, I wondered why I couldn't do it too," the young adult shared with Insider. "During my childhood, I held an immense fascination for videos and anything that induced laughter, so I deliberately concentrated on comedy."

The initial TikToks he created were comedic performances he recorded alongside his intimate buddies, aiming to entertain his viewers with amusing depictions of his family's harmonious existence.

"I owe a great deal of my initial internet fame to my strong connection with the Middle East," he expressed. "Fellow community members found the family interactions highly relatable and showed immense appreciation for the dramatized situations."

In the year 2021, he made a shift in his content towards the culinary domain—now his video content mainly revolves around preparing and distributing generous portions of meals to individuals who lack adequate housing.

He shares videos displaying "extravagant food experiences," in which he assembles a wide array of food ingredients to craft a meal. Initially, the majority of the dishes he concocted were inedible. Ketchup functioned as food dye, while glue and seasoning consisted of various colors of sand that he blended together. However, in 2022, he transitioned to using genuine ingredients, enabling him to generously donate the meals.

Currently, Daoud boasts a staggering fan base of nearly 14 million individuals across various social media platforms including Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook. Although his main hub is TikTok, where he has amassed approximately 12 million followers, Daoud has expanded his content creation horizon by delving into longer videos and Shorts on YouTube. Additionally, he has recently scored a show on Snap.

The creator's main source of earnings comes from brand collaborations, where he shares sponsored content on TikTok and receives a prearranged payment in return. He chose not to disclose the exact amount earned from these paid partnerships, but he has also made money from his social media platforms through programs that share revenue generated by ads.

In the last seven months, specifically from January to July 2023, he has managed to accumulate around $23,350 in earnings. These funds were directly received from YouTube, Snapchat, and Facebook, and their authenticity was confirmed by Insider through the documentation he shared. Interestingly, despite the majority of his online followers being on TikTok, he doesn't generate much income from that platform. In fact, his earnings from TikTok for this year have only amounted to a meager $300.

Earn Money From Ad-revenue-share Programs

Daoud generates his income through advertisements on YouTube and Facebook by creating and sharing lengthy videos. While TikTok remains his main priority, he initially captures and uploads videos for this platform before adapting and sharing them on other social media platforms. This approach, which other TikTok users who have transitioned to YouTube have also adopted, has significantly boosted his earnings on YouTube, making it his primary source of income through a social media platform.

"I had been approved for YouTube's long-form monetization program some time ago, but I wasn't generating any revenue as I had not been creating those lengthier videos," he remarked. "However, everything took a dramatic turn after the introduction of Shorts bonuses. That's how I am making money now."

Daoud also emphasizes the importance of Facebook as a significant source of earnings, emphasizing how many individuals in this field, including content creators, are unaware of its potential profitability. He reveals that the amount he has earned from Facebook in this year is just slightly less, by approximately $100, compared to his earnings from YouTube.

Many individuals believe it has perished, but that's not the case," he stated. "My material consistently garners massive attention on that platform."

With the assistance of his supervisor and Jellysmack, a company that focuses on fostering creator growth, Daoud managed to secure a slot on Snapchat. In contrast to transient stories, these Snap shows tend to last three to five minutes and are permanently available on Snapchat's Discover feed. Creators like Daoud receive a percentage of the earnings from advertisements that are presented within the content.

"He mentioned that he earned instant cash from the initial episode, and it was absolutely crazy," he recounted.

Food Distribution Is A Major Focus Now

Upon relocating to Los Angeles, California in 2021, Daoud observed a significant number of individuals without shelter as he explored the area near his tall residential complex.

"He mentioned that the number of people on the streets in New Jersey is significantly lower compared to the bustling streets of LA."

He shifted his focus to recording videos of himself preparing extravagant meals using genuine, farm-fresh ingredients. For instance, he utilized a whopping 80 pounds of dough to whip up approximately 200 delicious homemade pizzas. Additionally, he made sure to distribute any leftover food to individuals lacking permanent shelter. Prior to filming, he made it a point to seek verbal permission from the unhoused individuals he encountered.

After that, he has relocated to New Jersey once again and is now raising funds to provide meals by using a crowdfunding platform known as Angelink. His supporters have the option to contribute money through the provided link on any of his social media accounts.

He expressed his desire to avoid the perception that he is disconnected from reality due to his high income, as he strives to contribute back as much as possible.
