Rugby star Stuart Hogg granted bail after arrest
Stuart Hogg made an appearance at the Sheriff Court in Jedburgh.
Stuart Hogg, the ex-captain of the Scotland rugby team, has been granted bail after his arrest for allegedly violating his earlier bail terms prior to his upcoming domestic abuse trial.
He was brought before the court at Jedburgh Sheriff Court after being in custody.
He is accused of stalking and exhibiting controlling behavior toward his wife Gillian for seven years, which he refutes.
The prosecutor objected to Mr. Hogg being granted bail once more, but Sheriff Peter Paterson permitted his release under stringent conditions.
Sheriff Paterson stated that he is prohibited from having any communication with his separated wife, regardless of the situation.
Mr. Hogg has previously entered a not guilty plea for a stalking charge, as well as for an offense under section one of the Domestic Abuse Scotland Act concerning his actions towards his wife.
In February, he was taken into custody at her residence on charges of causing her distress and fear.
He is dealing with several accusations, including claims that he was hostile towards his wife, accused her of cheating, and consistently followed her movements and checked her communications with others for many years.
The trial is scheduled to take place on November 4th at the Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Mr. Hogg surprised everyone by retiring from the sport last summer. He was later recognized with an MBE in the 2024 New Year Honours for his contributions to rugby union.
The dad of four has returned from retirement to ink a two-year deal with Montpellier.
