Police have confirmed that Stuart Hogg, a former captain of the Scottish rugby team, has been taken into custody and charged in relation to an occurrence in Hawick, where he grew up, over the weekend.
Police officers in the Scottish Borders were summoned at approximately 5:20 pm on Sunday evening in response to reports of an altercation.
The individual who is 31 years old was transported to the Hawick police station. They were accused of a crime and subsequently permitted to leave after giving their word to show up for a court hearing at the Jedburgh sheriff court at a later time.
According to a representative from Police Scotland, they will be presenting a report detailing any purported crimes to the procurator fiscal.
Next week, Mr Hogg will participate in a charitable cycling event that starts in Scotland and ends in Italy. This event's purpose is to raise funds for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, which supports people who suffer from motor neuron disease. Mr Hogg has represented Scotland in a hundred games and has gone on three tours with the British & Irish Lions.
