Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg arrested for stalking
Stuart Hogg, the former captain of the Scotland rugby team, has been taken into custody and is facing charges for stalking and violating the terms of his bail.
Police Scotland announced that a 32-year-old man was scheduled to appear in Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal, who is Scotland's public prosecutor.
The father of four surprised everyone by retiring from the sport last summer. He received an MBE in the 2024 New Year Honours for his contributions to rugby union.
He has returned from retirement to sign a two-year deal with Montpellier and was set to make his debut for the French team this weekend.
The full-back, who has played for Glasgow Warriors and Exeter Chiefs at the club level, reached his milestone of 100 caps for Scotland in 2023. This achievement came two years after he set the record for the most tries scored by a Scottish player, totaling 25.
He wrapped up his career with 27 goals, but in July, winger Duhan van der Merwe surpassed him by scoring his 28th goal in a victory against Uruguay.
