During the week of June 12 to 18, 2023, about 1.2 billion euros' worth of fossil fuels from Russia were loaded onto tankers that are owned or insured by European or G7 countries. Unfortunately, this action provides funding for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Between June 12th and June 18th in the year 2023, the primary buyers of fossil fuels exported from Russia were China, the European Union, Turkey, India, and Brazil.

Isaac Levi, an Energy Analyst, and Hubert Thieriot, a Lead Data Scientist, both from CREA, have completed the weekly report detailing the exports of fossil fuels from Russia.

We've made some changes to our methodology starting from April 3, 2023. Our weekly snapshots will no longer be seasonally adjusted, so you may notice some differences between previous and future reports. We've also changed our timeframe to show totals from the beginning of 2023 instead of the invasion start date. The dates shown in our reports indicate when the shipment arrived, and we usually find 80% of the arrivals within four days of the port call. Please keep in mind that our oil products and chemicals commodity group includes a wider range of items than just those related to current sanctions as of February 5, 2022.
