A previous executive of the Rangers Football Club has received more than 600,000 pounds in compensation for being falsely accused and prosecuted.

Imran Ahmad faced allegations of involvement in fraudulent activities linked to the acquisition of the assets of the Ibrox club in 2015.

Nevertheless, the allegations made against the previous business manager of the organization were finally dismissed.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service have provided a payment, which now makes the full compensation cost of the Rangers case over £52m.

Last year, the lord advocate issued a public apology to Mr Ahmad and the former CEO of Rangers, Charles Green. The lord advocate acknowledged that the prosecutions that were brought against them were baseless and motivated by malice.

Afterwards, Mr Green was awarded a compensation payment of £6.3 million.

David Whitehouse and Paul Clarke, who previously held administrative positions, received an amount of £10.5 million each and were also issued an apology.

The organization they were employed by was also compensated with over £15m in damages.

Seven individuals were taken into custody in connection with the procurement of Rangers by entrepreneur Craig Whyte in 2012 and the team's subsequent financial downfall.

Eventually, the accusations against six individuals were dismissed, and Mr. Whyte, the former owner, was cleared of fraud charges after going through a trial.

According to BBC Scotland, Mr. Ahmad proposed an apology as a resolution to his case in 2019 with the aim of exonerating himself and putting the matter behind him. However, the Crown Office chose to contest the allegations of false imprisonment instead.

After all the legal procedures are finished, there will be an investigation led by a judge into the deficiencies of the fraud investigation related to the sale of Rangers.
