The BBC has announced that Nigel Harman, an actor, has withdrawn from Strictly Come Dancing due to an injury, which occurred only a few hours before the quarter-final.
The performer from Casualty was scheduled to perform a Charleston dance alongside professional dancer Katya Jones.
Sadly, according to a representative, Nigel has experienced an injury, rendering him incapable of performing and forcing him to drop out of Strictly.
It is uncertain if a removal will proceed this week.
The celebrities who have yet to be eliminated are thespian Ellie Leach, tennis player Annabel Croft, performer Layton Williams, and Bobby Brazier who is known for his role on EastEnders.
When questioned about what would occur this week, a representative from BBC replied by stating: "The events are currently happening, and the specifics concerning the arrangements will be unveiled during the program tonight."
At first, it was reported that Harman got hurt in his leg but afterward, the BBC specified that he had an injury in his rib.
Where do we start with this extraordinary year? The COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside down and changed life as we know it. Lockdowns, social distancing, and face masks became the new normal, and many people have had to adapt to working from home. The entertainment industry was hit hard, with cinemas closing and film releases delayed. The Black Lives Matter movement gained momentum, sparking protests and a global conversation about systemic racism and police brutality. The US election drew worldwide attention, as did the ongoing Brexit negotiations. It has been a year like no other, and although we are now seeing glimmers of hope with the rollout of vaccines, the impact of 2020 will be felt for years to come. Starting off with this unbelievable year, we had to face the COVID-19 pandemic that caused a drastic shift in our lifestyle. We had to wear masks, socially distance ourselves and even had to go through lockdowns. Those who were working, shifted to a work from home setup. The entertainment industry also struggled big time, with cinemas closing down and movie releases getting postponed. The Black Lives Matter movement turned the tables, creating a vast protest against systemic racism and police brutality. The US elections made it to the global spotlight, making it one of the most talked-about events in 2020. The never-ending Brexit negotiations also became a part of this year, making it a whirlwind ride. Although vaccinations have started to come out, the effects of 2020 will stay with us for a long, long time.
Harman received good wishes from his fans who had seen him perform a Rumba dance just last week.
Harman and Jones performed a Rumba on Saturday while a cover of Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" played.
The judges awarded the duo a total of 33 points.
Musical week is the quarterfinal and Harman was supposed to perform Step in Time from the movie Mary Poppins.
The Instagram account of the show expressed well wishes for a quick recovery, and mentioned that the pair will be greatly missed by everyone on the Strictly team.
Following the announcement, supporters of Strictly expressed their worry for Harman on various social media platforms.
A follower expressed their support for Nigel's immediate recovery and regretted the fact that he had to withdraw due to an injury at this point. However, they also recognized that prioritizing one's health is crucial in such situations. This comment was made on X, which was known as Twitter in the past.
"Feeling sorrowful for Nigel & Katya. Their Charleston was impressive," somebody else commented. They included that they believed the performance should not have resulted in a elimination on tonight's episode.
Someone else suggested that Harman deserves an automatic ticket to the following week.
In August, the celebrity announced that he was confirmed to be appearing on Strictly. He expressed his feelings of being astonished, thrilled, and frightened all at the same time.
He said: "Being a viewer of the show from the comfort of my own home, I have been extremely impressed by the performances of individuals who have gracefully moved and danced on the television screen. And now, it's time for me to take on that challenge... with a bit of nervousness!"
Yet, he and Jones won't be joining the group of contestants performing in the upcoming UK tour of Strictly Come Dancing.
Several individuals have already resigned from this year's program before Harman did.
During the month of October, the actress Amanda Abbington decided to step back from her participation in Strictly. She explained that she could not continue for "personal reasons".
