Michael Sheen is worried about dating someone who is only five years older than his own daughter.
The performer from Good Omens, who is 55 years old and is going to portray Prince Andrew in a competing production to Netflix's Scoop, talked about the issue during an interview on The Assembly. This is a program created by the BBC for Autism Acceptance Week, where interviewers who are autistic or neurodivergent ask famous individuals questions.
During an interview, the interviewer raised the topic of Sheen's connection with Anna Lundberg, who is 30 years old. The interviewer asked straightforwardly, "How does it make you feel to be in a romantic relationship with someone who is only five years older than your daughter?"
Sheen has fathered two kids with Swedish performer Lundberg, and he also has a 25-year-old daughter with Kate Beckinsale. When asked about his experience as a father at his age, Sheen admitted that it's not an easy task. He voiced concern about being an aged dad, which is giving him a lot of anxiety.
He expressed that due to the significant variance in age, they were both taken aback when they formed a relationship. He clarified that neither of them was searching for this type of bond. While he had not dated many individuals who were considerably younger than him, he emphasized that you cannot control who you meet.
He stated that we were conscious of the effects that those variations could have and how individuals could react towards them.
It wasn't a piece of cake. We both knew it would be tough and demanding. However, we believed it was valuable due to the strong love we had for one another.
The pair were introduced while working on the television series Staged, in which David Tennant and Georgia Tennant also have roles.
He voiced his apprehension about the disparity in age, expressing his unease about becoming a father at an advanced age.
He expressed concern about being an older dad due to the significant age gap. The thought of not having enough time with his children saddens him deeply. It's something he worries about frequently.
In the end, my belief is that if you meet someone who brings you joy and you can reciprocate that feeling, then you should pursue that relationship. That's what my partner and I did, and I'm overjoyed that we made that decision because we now have a beautiful family together.
From 1995 until 2003, Sheen and Beckinsale were involved in a romantic relationship. Throughout his life, Sheen has also dated other people such as Lorraine Stewart, an English ballet dancer, and actors Rachel McAdams, Caitlin Fitzgerald, and Sarah Silverman.
