Leeds United were expected to win against Portsmouth in their first game of the EFL Championship season on Saturday, but ended up with a 3-3 draw instead.

Portsmouth was ahead 2-1 and 3-2 before USA player Brenden Aaronson scored a tying goal in the 95th minute.

But the excitement continued. Aaronson had an amazing opportunity to secure victory in the final moments of the game, but unfortunately, he missed the goal.

Not only were Leeds supporters upset, but many others were also disappointed when Aaronson missed his shot from close range.

A lot of fans had chosen Leeds to win in their bets for Saturday. Since this game was one of the first to start at 12.30pm, their bet was lost very quickly.

The remarkable Aaronson's missed opportunity for Leeds United today is what eases the disappointment of the draw a little bit, considering we were winning in the 94th minute.

A complete disaster, I felt sick to my stomach when he passed by.

Brenden Aaronson found the back of the net in the closing moments of the game to secure a victory for Leeds over Portsmouth last Saturday.

But despite his opportunity, Aaronson was unable to secure the victory, forcing Leeds to accept a tie instead.

Aaronson appeared devastated after missing the goal in the last minute of stoppage time.

After seeing Aaronson's last-minute mistake, many fans went on X (formerly) Twitter to express their annoyances.

One supporter posted on Twitter just before 3pm: 'I made my first ACCA bet of the new season and Leeds have already messed it up.'

Another person commented: 'Leeds have ruined everyone's accumulator bets, haven't they?'

A user named 'FTBL Tipster' previously shared: 'Yes, football has returned.'

"Leeds currently disappointing our Championship Accumulator!"

Leeds ended the last season in third place in the Championship, but unfortunately they didn't get promoted after losing to Southampton in the play-off final.

In the meantime, Portsmouth emerged as the champions of League One last season by securing the highest possible points in 28 out of their 46 matches.
