NFL fans were delighted this Christmas when Beyonce took the stage for the halftime performance during Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday show.
This year, the streaming service is featuring two Christmas matchups: one between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the other between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans.
The pop superstar, who has won 32 Grammy Awards and is now 43 years old, made her entrance onto the field at NRG Stadium in Houston, her hometown, during the middle of the second game.
In an exciting first, she took to the stage to present live versions of songs from her new album, "Cowboy Carter." The performance featured a mix of tracks such as "16 Carriages," "Blackbird," "Levii’s Jeans," and "Texas Hold’Em." She also invited special guests Shaboozey and Post Malone to join her. Among the performers was her daughter, Blue Ivy, who danced alongside the rest.
Beyoncé is well-acquainted with performing at NFL events. She took center stage at the halftime show of the Super Bowl in 2013 and also joined Coldplay as a special guest during their performance in 2016.
On Christmas Day, there were other performances, including a pre-recorded version of Mariah Carey’s hit song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” shown before the first game. Additionally, the Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix performed the national anthem before the second game.
Stay tuned for real-time updates below.
Beyoncé is well-acquainted with halftime performances, having taken the stage at Super Bowl XLVII in 2013 and later alongside Coldplay in 2016. Numerous critics felt that she overshadowed Chris Martin and his band during their performance.
