Bayer Leverkusen moved one step closer to winning their first Bundesliga championship with a remarkable comeback win on Saturday. Meanwhile, their competitor for the title, Bayern Munich, suffered a defeat in an eventful day in Germany's top football league.

Leverkusen managed to secure a victory against Hoffenheim by scoring two late goals, remaining undefeated in the league. Conversely, Bayern Munich's performance was strikingly disappointing as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against their intense rival, Borussia Dortmund.

At the beginning of the season, it was hard to believe that any team could surpass Bayern Munich, who had won 11 titles in a row. However, Leverkusen has now taken the lead in the standings, with a 13-point advantage and only seven games left to play.

Leverkusen only has to triumph in three additional matches to guarantee the championship.

When asked if the competition for the title was already finished, Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, gave a harsh reply following his team's fifth defeat of the season in the league.

"Absolutely," he replied, according to Reuters. "The score doesn't need to be tallied anymore after this game. Do you know how many points we've accumulated so far? Kudos to Leverkusen."

Leverkusen, under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, put on yet another impressive display. They are currently fighting for three titles this season and have not lost in their previous 39 matches.

Even though Leverkusen has been performing impressively recently, they didn't begin the match well against Hoffenheim. They fell behind in the 33rd minute due to Maximilian Beier's goal.

Nonetheless, Leverkusen once again managed to score a crucial goal in the dying minutes of the game, just like they have done multiple times this season. Their savior this time was Robert Andrich, who found the back of the net in the 88th minute, leveling the score.

The home team was not satisfied with the tie and maintained their attack until Patrik Schick finally scored the victor in the last minute of the game, causing the BayArena to erupt with excitement.

"After the game, Alonso stated that the winning mentality and faith we possess is something we developed throughout the season," as reported by Reuters.

Due to Leverkusen's impressive season, coach Alonso was speculated to leave the team for a well-known position at another club, particularly either Bayern Munich or Liverpool.

Yet, Alonso has made a firm commitment to play for Leverkusen in the upcoming season, proving to be a significant triumph for the club that is on the verge of creating history.

Saturday was not a good day for Bayern, as it continues to struggle and experience conflict within the club.

At the conclusion of the season, Manager Tuchel is expected to depart and the players have not been able to meet the expectations placed upon them.

Even though Harry Kane was amazing throughout the season, he wasn't able to score some crucial goals in the game against Dortmund. As a result, Dortmund won their first league match against Bayern Munich after a long gap of 10 years.

Munich has lost the possibility of winning their 12th consecutive title. However, they should concentrate on the upcoming Champions League game against Arsenal in the quarterfinals.

I am curious about how we were able to show such an attitude. It's annoying and incomprehensible. You have to be fully motivated and prepared to face Dortmund, even a day before the game. Unfortunately, we didn't appear that way during our match today, shared Bayern's exceptional player, Joshua Kimmich, after the team's defeat on Saturday.

We acted like the situation didn't matter, but that's not acceptable. We're not performing up to par. If we want any hope of success, we have to come out victorious in every match.

"We shouldn't focus on Leverkusen. Instead, it's important for us as players to reflect on our performance and assess how we can improve. If we continue to approach games with this mindset, we'll struggle against any team."
