This image is based on data from the Henley Global Citizens Report, working together with New World Wealth, to order the most financially prosperous cities globally. It relies on a wide-ranging collection of data that monitors the actions and financial behaviors of affluent individuals in more than 150 cities worldwide.

In the most recent version of the list, North America is well represented with seven of the most financially prosperous cities, measured by the amount of millionaires residing in them. Especially noteworthy is the United States, which dominates five out of the top 10 cities, and secures the top position with New York City.

Asia is the area that holds the second highest number of individuals with a net worth of at least one million units of currency. It comes as no surprise that three out of the six cities included in this category are located in China, and one of them is Hong Kong (SAR).

In terms of the ranking, Europe secures the third spot with a total of five cities. However, only London manages to secure a place in the top 10 portion. Moving on, Oceania has a presence on the list with two of its cities hailing from Australia.

What are the bills in California that cause significant harm to the housing market?

By Lynn La | CalMatters Rewrite: Authored by Lynn La | CalMatters

The California Chamber of Commerce possesses an annual compilation known as the "job killer" list, where its adeptness at thwarting bills is admired by other trade organizations. According to their calculations, out of the 824 bills tagged as "job killers" from 1997 to 2022, only 58 managed to become laws without undergoing considerable alterations that aligned with their desires.

Likewise, the builders in California have their set of housing bills that they object to, although it is not widely recognized and has a shorter duration.

The bills identified by the California Building Industry Association as "housing killers" are measures that, according to them, would exacerbate the housing crisis by heightening expenses, prolonging construction schedules, and imposing additional obstacles for home development.

In the present term, the roster consists of six legislative proposals, wherein Assembly Bill 68 aims to expedite authorizations for eco-friendly city residences. However, the organization argues that this measure would significantly escalate housing expenses by restricting construction solely to costly multi-story buildings.

The impact of frigid temperatures on the mind's inclination to increase cravings

Scientists from Scripps Research have discovered neural pathways within the brain that stimulate an increased appetite in mammals when they come into contact with chilly temperatures.

Mammals naturally consume more energy to regulate their body temperature when subjected to cold conditions. This rise in energy expenditure due to cold stimulation triggers a surge in hunger and eating, although the particular mechanism behind this phenomenon was previously unidentified. In a recent study, published on August 16, 2023, in the journal Nature, scientists uncovered a group of neurons that serve as a "toggle" for this eating behavior triggered by cold in mice. This finding has the potential to pave the way for treatments targeting metabolic health and aiding in weight loss.
