The football club Nottingham Forest has expressed their condolences following the passing of former player Larry Lloyd. The two-time European Cup champion passed away at the age of 75.

Lloyd, who achieved victory in the First Division championship and UEFA Cup as a Liverpool player, played an important role in the European Cup-winning Forest team of 1979 and 1980 under the guidance of manager Brian Clough.

The defender, who was born in Bristol, earned four opportunities to represent England's national team. After his successful career as a player, he became a manager for Wigan and Notts County.

The team Forest expressed their sadness on their website after finding out about the death of Larry Lloyd.

Larry was a significant member of the Miracle Men team, playing a crucial role in Forest's consecutive victories in the European Cup in 1979 and 1980. He played a total of 218 games for the club.

"Our hearts go out to Larry's loved ones during this incredibly sorrowful period. May he rest in eternal peace."

Lloyd started his profession with the football club Bristol Rovers. Later on, Liverpool manager Bill Shankly signed him by spending £50,000 in the year 1969.

In 1973, the Reds achieved a significant victory by winning both the league and UEFA Cup titles. Surprisingly, Lloyd was able to play in every game of the season without missing any.

Liverpool honored a player whose talents included exceptional skills in the air and fierce tackling. This athlete's goal in the initial match-up against Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Cup final played a significant role in the team's success.

At Anfield, Lloyd scored the third goal of the match at the 60-minute mark after Kevin Keegan netted twice earlier. The Reds won the match 3-2 on aggregate, despite losing the second leg in Germany 2-0.

Liverpool Football Club is feeling great sorrow over the demise of their past defender, Larry Lloyd, who was 75 years old, as expressed in their official statement.

Liverpool FC is set to honor Lloyd by observing a moment of applause at Anfield this coming Sunday during their match against Brighton.

Our hearts go out to Larry's loved ones during this difficult moment. We share their sadness and express our deepest sympathies.

Lloyd spent a total of two years playing for Coventry before transferring to the City Ground for a fee of £60,000. Here, he became an essential part of the team, collaborating with Kenny Burns to form a strong centre-back duo. As a result of their efforts, Forest was able to defeat Malmo and win the European Cup final in 1979.

The Forest team managed to keep the trophy for another year by winning against Hamburg, led by Kevin Keegan.

During a press conference on Thursday, Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager of Forest, recounted how one of his players was an extraordinary individual. He expressed his condolences for the player's family, recognizing that it's a difficult time for them. Winning two successive European Cups is truly a remarkable feat, and he stated that the team is immensely proud of their accomplishments. The Forest club has a rich history that shouldn't be overlooked, and Nuno Espirito Santo acknowledged this.
