The Times reported that William Wragg, a prominent member of the Conservative Party, acknowledged providing the private phone numbers of his colleagues to an individual he encountered through a dating application.

According to a report in the newspaper, the Member of Parliament representing the Hazel Grove constituency revealed that he was being persistently harassed by individuals who held blackmail-worthy information about him. He stated that they refused to back down or cease their torment.

"They requested some individuals. I provided a few contact details, but not all. I advised them to cease their actions. Sadly, he has influenced and used me which led to unintentional harm to other individuals."

I had a conversation with a man through an online application and we shared images with each other. Our plan was to go out for some drinks, but it never happened.

Afterwards, he began requesting the personal information of others. This made me anxious as he had incriminating evidence against me. He provided a WhatsApp number, but it is no longer active. I have caused harm to others due to my lack of strength.

I felt frightened. I'm ashamed. I deeply apologize for causing others pain because of my vulnerability.

Earlier this week, it was announced that several individuals, including a minister currently in office, members of parliament, staff employed by political parties, and journalists who cover political topics, were targeted with unwelcome messages from two individuals on WhatsApp, whose identities remain unknown.

The Leicestershire Police representative stated that they are currently looking into a case of harmful correspondence. They are investigating after several uninvited messages were forwarded to a politician in the Leicestershire region last month.

A representative from Parliament mentioned that they place great importance on security and collaborate closely with the government to deal with such situations.

Our aim is to give customized guidance to our members and employees on how they can safeguard themselves against digital threats. In case you are still worried, we strongly urge you to get in touch with the Parliamentary Security Department.
