Burnley 1-2 West Ham: Tomas Soucek completes late turnaround to continue Clarets' home winless streak

West Ham

In a surprising result, West Ham was able to come from behind and snatch a victory against Burnley. The hero of the day was Mohammed Kudus who was able to inspire his team with some incredible moves. This win was especially impressive as Burnley had previously suffered six consecutive defeats at home.

The football team led by Vincent Kompany experienced a terrible start by losing all six of their initial games they played at their home ground in the top-flight league since the season began. However, they seemed sure to change their fate and finally win a game when Jay Rodriguez scored a penalty kick three minutes into the second half of their recent match.

They kept their advantage until the very end, but in the last moments, Kudus showed off his impressive skills by bypassing four players and passing the ball to Divin Mubama. Mubama's shot ended up in the goal, thanks to a deflection off Dara O'Shea, thus leveling the score (86).

Burnley felt a strong sense of familiarity, but there was still more to come. Kudus pulled off another impressive trick, taking advantage of a poorly cleared corner and delivering a precise cross to the back post. Tomas Soucek was right there and used his strength to blast a decisive goal past James Trafford in the 91st minute.

The spectators from West Ham sang a song which implied that Burnley was going to lose the game, causing the people supporting Burnley to leave early. Burnley was very close to moving out of the last position of the Premier League, but they didn't manage to achieve it since they lost all of their matches at Turf Moor since promotion.

Burnley's starting lineup for the game consisted of Trafford who scored 6 out of 10, Vitinho who scored 5 out of 10, O'Shea who scored 6 out of 10, Beyer who also scored 6 out of 10, Taylor who scored 6 out of 10. Additionally, Gudmundsson was rated a 5 out of 10, Berge scored a 6 out of 10, Brownhill scored a 7 out of 10, Koleosho also scored a 7 out of 10, Rodriguez got a 6 out of 10, and Amdouni scored 6 out of 10 as well.

Burnley Loses Victory In The End

Despite being an unremarkable first half at Burnley, there was still some VAR controversy. Although there was a review, the video official chose not to step in when it looked like Vladimir Coufal caught Luca Koleosho's leg while in the penalty area.

The 45-minute period was dominated by Burnley, but they lacked the necessary firepower to pose a threat to Alphonse Areola, with the exception of Koleosho's curling shot from a distance that was effortlessly blocked by the West Ham goalkeeper.

In the latter part of the game, it became a whole new situation. Any negative feelings towards the previous penalty request disappeared when the referee, Samuel Barrott, called for a penalty after Kudus stepped on Koleosho during a speedy run into the box.

Rodriguez's impressive penalty kick ignited Burnley's energy, and they had the chance to increase their advantage with O'Shea's header from a corner kick or Zeki Amdouni's forceful shot that was saved by Areola.

The Clarets had been waiting for almost nine months to win a league game at home. It looked like they might finally do it as the game was almost over. However, Kudus suddenly changed things completely on his own.

Vincent Kompany, the Burnley manager, chose to keep the identical lineup that played in the 3-1 loss against Arsenal just before the international hiatus.

Ameen Al Dakhil regained his physical condition by playing for Belgium in the previous week, however, he wasn't part of the team that played the game. Hjalmar Ekdal was fit enough to be on the bench following his injury.

David Moyes, the manager of West Ham team, switched up his lineup for the game following their 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest. The change was not by choice, as one player was not available to play.

Jarrod Bowen couldn't make it to the game because he was dealing with a knee injury. As a result, Danny Ings took his place in the starting lineup.

He skillfully controlled the ball with his first touch, outshining numerous Burnley players as he dashed towards the edge of the pitch. Spotting Mubama's timely approach towards the goalpost, he aimed the ball at the substitute. Mubama's quick flick led O'Shea to inadvertently score an own goal, causing their team's break-a-heart leveler.

For the majority of the game, the Ghanaian player had stayed silent. However, he suddenly decided he wasn't finished yet. After a corner was partially cleared, James Ward-Prowse passed the ball to him. The player then made an amazing delivery across the six-yard box. Soucek was there to meet the ball and managed to score his fourth goal in four games playing for both his club and his country.

West Ham has won two games in a row, which has widened their lead over teams below them by four points. Meanwhile, Luton's victory against Crystal Palace has pushed Burnley five points away from safety, putting them on a six-game losing streak in the Premier League.

Kompany: Exceptional For 86 Minutes

During a recent interview with Sky Sports, Vincent Kompany, the manager of Burnley Football Club, expressed his thoughts on the team’s current performance.

It's difficult. I wish to state that it was a great display, but only for about 86 minutes.

However, our team ended up letting in the first and second goals, which caused a shift in our mood. I strongly believe that we must persevere and success will eventually come our way. In the current state of the league, minor details and situations are causing us to suffer losses.

So, we are confident that something good is soon going to happen. Despite playing really well in recent matches, we haven't been able to get the desired outcomes. Nevertheless, we remain hopeful and optimistic about the future."

How often have I been in this place discussing choices? I always tell my team that we can't expect anything to be handed to us. We haven't had that experience yet, so why would it suddenly change? We must make the effort to go and claim it ourselves.

The team is putting in a lot of effort and making sacrifices on a regular basis. They always give it their all before starting the task at hand. I hope they receive the recognition they deserve in the form of positive outcomes.

Moyes: Break Hurt Us

David Moyes, the manager of West Ham, spoke to Sky Sports.

I'm not sure if I would categorize it as extraordinary, but it was definitely significant, as I felt let down by our performance in the initial half.

I believed that there were some difficulties in having the players return from their international duties and a few injuries, but we persevered, were strong in our determination, and achieved the desired outcome.

During the initial part of the match, we didn't really make any significant moves against the opponent. We didn't attempt to pass the ball forward. In my opinion, we needed to be more straightforward with our approach, by moving the ball upwards, and we managed to achieve that in the second half.

We positioned ourselves in spots to make goals and initially it appeared as though it wouldn't occur. Nevertheless, in the final moments we managed to achieve both the equalizing and winning goals, which was extremely satisfying.

I believed that Kudus had been quite silent lately. However, all the away games in Africa and the long travels back, followed by matches in Burnley, have undoubtedly had an impact on his performance. Nevertheless, Kudus has demonstrated remarkable proficiency in providing us with goals and creating opportunities for goals, which has greatly benefited our team to date.

We considered replacing him, but decided to retain him and fortunately, it turned out well.
